I may be the only one who thinks this or gets bothered by this, and if so, let me know lol. If everyone else is okay with it, then I can probably just get over it.
Truthfully, I feel like there should be a limit to the amounts of designs you can post for each pet when a festival is coming up. For several people, it looks like they make one design for one dessert, then they just post it for every non-fabled pet and make a ton of posts of it. As an example, if I make a design for a Chocolate Cream Pie Faelora, then just change the species and post the same color spread for every pet. I know there's technically nothing unfair about it since everyone can do that if they want to, but I feel like that takes the fun out of it in some way. When people do that, I feel they turn it into a contest of quantity not quality, and it makes it just a contest about posting the most entries to win. I know the admins go over all the designs, but what if everyone starts doing this mass design and post thing? Then each person would have like 5-6 full posts of designs, and that would be a TON if all the people participating did this.
Like I said, I think a 5-8 design limit on each pet would easily help fix this. This is not meant to be a ranting post; I just don't want something as fun and awesome as the Festival Pet Contest to turn into 'who can spam the most designs and pets before the deadline'. If it sounded like a rant post, let me know :( Didn't mean for it to! Please tell me your thoughts on the subject and/or different ideas!

This is actually the first fest that doesn't have an entry limit. Probably because the designs for this fest are very limited. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it went back to the original format the next time, which is a limit of 2 full posts.
Sorry if this sounds dismissive, I just feel like the post limit was only lifted this one time and don't expect it to ever be an issue again. :)

I guess I must have looked over that rule. I do have a pretty bad memory so I wouldn't be too surprised if I read it and forgot! So I guess I just hope if Sylestia does something similar to this in the future, I hope there will be a limit to how many designs per pet or something? Don't get me wrong though, my favorite part of festivals is the themed pet designing contest! I enjoy seeing everyone's submissions; there's always really cool ones that don't always get picked.

I think the overall post limit works fine. If people want to make all their designs for one pet, or make a few colour schemes and try them out with many pets, I see no issue. :)
I highly doubt that the quantity over quality argument would apply to how the winners are picked, at least in the multiple pets of one theme . That would be because they wouldn't pick multiple pets of the same theme. All it does is show the same colour scheme on many different pets, but they still have to compete with every other pet of the same species. (And in this case, of the same theme as presented by other people.)
And yup, since there's only a limited number of picks, awesome ones are always going to get picked over. It's a shame, but people can and do make projects out of unpicked themes.

Like Entropy mentioned, previous themed contests had a limit on the amount of posts you could use. The reason why I removed the limit for this particular contest was because people were limited to what they could design around. There were not set species for the dessert themes, so instead of just 16 designs, it could have been a possible 256.
Therefore we lifted the limitation so players had enough space to post as many designs as they wanted. Also, just because you post a lot of designs doesn't necessarily mean that we will pick your entry. :)

Okay, I'm glad it was just me sort of being silly then. Since I had seen similar posting in the fall fest, I thought there wasn't a limit to the number of posts. But when I go back to look at past festivals, it is in the instructions. I do think its understandable to have no post limit this time with fewer themes to choose from. Thank you for clearing that up :3
