Maybe an idea would be a shop where you can buy things with items you have found. So it would be more of a trade shop.

For example if you have 4 regular essence of 1 specie, that you can trade it for 1 enhanced essence of that same specie. (or 5 regular or more but I chose 4 because when you buy essence with daimonds you can buy 4 regular ones for 1 enhanced)
This way people who can't afford daimonds will have a bit more chance to get enhanced essence.
Also Some species are rarely for sale in the broker like enhanced qitari and enhanced zolnixi and like this you can collect regular ones and trade them for enhanced ones you have been looking for.

Another example could be that you can trade items that have the same worth witch eachother. Like one philter for another.

Or that you can buy stuff like a net that doesn't mis or an amnesia philter in exchange for 20 purple nets or 20 other philters.

Another example, that you can trade regular essence for other ergular essence. More often then not you end up with essence you don't need or want. If the specie is not popular people will not buy that essence unless you sell it underpriced. Fair would be if you could trade the essence for an essence you do like in the trade shop.

Just an idea so that people get a bit more options and more ways to obtain things they would not be able to obtain otherwise. And for people to get rid of what they don't want or need withoud having to sell it underpriced.

Trading items for items is the main purpose of our Item Auctions Forum.

It would be very difficult to come up with a system that allows you to automatically sell items for other items, as the logistics of allowing you to choose what you want to sell it for would be challenging. Not impossible, but challenging.

Basically, this is why currencies are used (both in games and in real life). Because everything can be traded for a common item.

If you want to trade 5 Blue Essences for a Purple Essences, someone would only be interested in that if they felt 5 Blues were worth a Purple - and typically that would only be the case if the price of 5 Blues roughly equaled the price of 1 Purple. Thus, instead of selling 5 Blue Essences for 1 Purple Essence (which you could do via the Item Auctions Forum or private trading), you could sell 5 Blue Essences on the broker for the same amount of gold as the Purple.

Does that make sense?
