I have found that it is incredibly difficult to trade any Ryori showing Jester's Crest and any of the Mask Traits. Jester's Crest should be re-drawn and moved to a different slot, to make it look good and blend better with other traits. It is too big, and distracts from any other traits. Mystic Mask and Skull Mask could also use redraws, seeing as they look awkward and also do not blend very well with other traits.

I personally like all of those traits, a lot. Alone or in conjunction.

They probably will not be redrawn any time in the near future because they're quality work up to date with the Ryori's design. If any traits were going to be redrawn it would be very early ones I'd imagine.

I know you're definitely not trying to come off that way but implying that it doesn't look good at all sounds a bit insulting.

Either way in the case of Jester's crest, mutation slot two makes the most sense. One is for armor, three is for masks, and two is for...Everything else. If anything having more slots would be nice, but I'm sure that would be a nightmare to try and do.

Also, just out of curiosity, which traits do you think conflict with these mutations? Because I can't really see any that do. They don't really block much, except maybe genes on the face and a bit of the body.

But well, opinion is opinion. You don't like those mutations and I do so...*shrug* I think the only real issue with traits on any sylesti is if they excessively block/cover other traits, which is my issue with some of the wings on pets. But again, opinion. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one crazy enough to like those traits though, haha.

While I don't particularly like any of those mutations either, I don't think they should be redrawn. As of right now Sylestia is working on redrawing all of the starter species, which as it is, is a TON of art and MONEY they're putting into having them redrawn. And that's the thing, redrawing those mutations costs money.

Speaking of money, I'm pretty sure the Jester Crest was a mutation a player paid for when we still had the gene and mutation order scrolls were still around. Anyone can correct me on that one. So hypothetically, if it was a mutation a player paid for, they probably asked them to be that way, and paid a lot of money for it, so they wouldn't be allowed to change it drastically unless the player quits or they get permission from the player.

Otherwise, all I can suggest is if you can't seem to sell pets with those genes is try to avoid using them in your projects.

Yeah, but I'm sure they could scale it down so it's less in-your-face.

"Speaking of money, I'm pretty sure the Jester Crest was a mutation a player paid for when we still had the gene and mutation order scrolls were still around."

As someone who has a rough idea of who the user(s) were that ordered those traits specifically, I believe they meant for those mutations (yes, all 3, Jester Crest and the Skull/Skeletal Mutations) to be "in your face".
I believe they wanted to add mutations that had a very different look and besides what was already there for Ryoris.

If anything, the only reason why I could think to redraw ANYTHING is because the lineart doesn't match the pet's art. One such case is where the lines on the Skull Mask are very vivid compared to the overall line-less ness of the Ryori.
I can argue the same for Nephinis and their Feathered Wings, where the wing lineart look very thin compared to the original Nephini lines.

(actually now that i look at skull mask, it doesn't even look that bad, it's just that its super shaded and detailed)

However, I believe that the Ryori's mutations that you're referring to are meant to be drawn that way, as far as them being very unique and different.

I know what you mean when you say that some traits mask others. A good example is how Puffadore's Jeweled Wings cover up half the body. Another are Lighiras' wings covering up the body. (Which Entropy talks about in her post)

Would I say they need to be redrawn? Not really. As much as suggestions are just suggestions, I always think that a person should work with what they're given. This includes how genes and mutations are placed.
So, like Makeshift suggested, I would try and breed around those traits if they were unsuiting to a pet.

I believe also that the admins would love to provide variety for the traits pets can have. It's hard trying to get everything to work with everything (I actually suggested that Avatar Hairstyles and future Head wearables to be redone so that hats would work with all hairstyles without causing weird looks like hair coming out of a hat), but it also gives the possibility of trying other gene/mutation combos to suit a breeding project. This provides more combinations and more uses for essences to get other traits together.

All in all, like Entropy and Makeshift said, something like a redrawn of the mutations would be on the backburner because of priorities, but I don't see a big big problem of the Ryori mutations. It's just a matter of making them work with other traits.
