This guy carries Leopard Spots and Fire Mane

What's wrong with that?

He should carry Zebra Stripes. His mother, Flare, who I generated shows Fire Mane and as she is a regular generated sylesti that is all she has. His father, Jett, shows Zebra Stripes. What's up with carrying Leopard Spots?

Jett's mom must have carried Leopard Spots (they're in the same slot as the Zebra stripes, but the stripes are dominant so they show and the spots don't), which she passed to Jett, who then passed them to your hatchling. :3

But why wouldn't Jett have passed on Zebra Stripes?

@Domby,

As said, it's possible for a pet to show one gene but also carry another. When breeding, that parent has a chance to pass on either of those traits.

Each parent can only pass one of their two carried/visible genes for a given gene/mutation slot to their offspring. So Jett can pass either his carried (hidden) Leopard Spot gene, OR his carried (visible) Zebra Stripe gene (50/50 chance of each), NOT both. This offspring got his Leopard Spot gene instead of his Zebra Stripes.

If it still isn't making sense, go check out Reynbowz's breeding/genetics guide here.

I checked the Father's Data a bit~ owo
And he have Visible Zebra Stripes and Hidden carry Leopard Spot.
In gene "coding" Zebra is A and Leopard is B okay?
"Pure" Visible Zebra = AA
Visible Zebra+Hidden carried Leopard = AB

A "Pure" Visible Zebra would have AA, but in the case of Jett,
he have AB, which mean that he will either give the A or the B
gene.
Giving the kid either carried gene, so it's 50% chances of
carrying Zebra and 50% chances of carrying Leopard.

I checked Jett's parents genetics as well, the mother is a AB,
so on the 50% she had to give B on Jett, she did, this is why
it seems like nobody in this guy's family could have giving a
carried Leopard.
The Granma, father-side, have an Hidden Carry Leopard Spot.

I dunno if this make it clear to you thou?~ o.o"
(It does to me~ owo")
