I wanted to see all of the latest themed pets without having to search each individual species.
Themed: Yes
Pet ID: Descending
Hit Search.
Easy, right?
Too many results. Please narrow your parameters.
Easy denied. The only possible way to do this right now would be to search each and every species separately. So here's a suggestion for a filter feature to limit pets, and not details.
Pet ID: [numberX] - [numberY]
This would allow users to manually limit the number of results, without adding other additional limitations to restrict what they're really looking for, such a wanting to view all of the themed pets. Though I haven't had the need for this myself, this would probably be useful for people wanting to view recent pets of a certain species as well, since most of these have the exact same resulting error. Trying to view all Zolnixi, Griffi, Aeridini, Ryori, Lupora, and several other species for example, also gives the thumbs down and tells you there's just too many for the filter to list. So even if you're only interested in the latest pets, or even the oldest, you simply can't do it since ALL pets would be listed. (Or at least they would, if the error didn't block it.)
Also a bit amusing, as the advanced search is now, there's more than enough room to add a second box for the pet ID numbers. It's like it wants to range the ID's in the results. :D

The issue with searching atm is coding. I'll be the first person to admit that I'm still learning how everything works lol. I've come a long way in 2 years, but I still have a long way to go.
This becomes very evident with searching. Searching requires going through over a million entries across multiple database tables. Figuring out proper optimization of those tables and the queries used to grab info from them is 100% related to the performance of the results.
Unfortunately, I haven't quite mastered that skill yet which limits what the search can do. As I learn more and get the chance to improve things, I'll eventually be able to go back and improve the search so that I can remove the limitation.
Basically, right now, the search is limited to a max response time of 2 seconds (which is like, super super long). It takes pretty specific searches to produce response times that long though. But that's why the limitations are there atm.
So to answer your question, a more limitless search will be available down the road; I just can't really give an accurate ETA of when.
