How did you find Sylestia? And why do you continue to play? I found it on myvirtualpetlist.com and I find that playing this game after a long day at work or on my days off is just super relaxing. :D So what's your reason?

I found Sylestia on a different pet breeding game. It had the ad, so I went to check it out. It seemed pretty cool so I made an account and suddenly got addicted to the site. XD
It's a really fun game though!
It's cool how you made this, Snowdoll! :)

Found this game from browsing one of my old MMO's wikis. c:

I stuck around because the game is easy enough to keep up with for me. I find myself feeling calmer when I do my daily check of missions aha.

It helps that the community for the most part's nice. ^^

I found this site through an ad on another game I play. I decided to try it largely because I liked the artwork and the way breeding worked. I also liked the RPG elements, as I'd been looking for a game combining a good pet simulator thing (with breeding for traits) with a sort of battle system that was easy to grasp and fun. I'd say I found a good match! Not to mention I love all the community stuff and being able to be as included as I want with no pressure. Tis very nice. ^_^

Okay, embarrassing story time.... So a month or two ago a friend of mine posted a link on Facebook to an article about the failed economics of Neopets. Now, I played Neopets for a good three years or so when I was younger -- I even had one of the stuffed toys in real life (the Baa Baa petpet :D) and figured reading it would be a bit of fun nostalgia and an interesting look into the economics of MMOGs. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how strongly that nostalgia would affect me. I ended up following the article to some hilarious tumblrs about all the strange things in Neopia, and spent an entire afternoon laughing at this stuff and reminiscing about how carefree and happy I was back at the time when I was playing Neopets.

Well, that feeling of longing for a time past stuck around. I couldn't seem to shake it. The past few years I've been through some difficult things, and although some of the best things to happen to me have also been part of them, it's all just been very complicated and tiring, and too joyless adulthood-y for me. I really wanted some of that feeling back from when I was younger. Plus, I was in the process of moving to a new country across the ocean and was missing my pets back home (who are with my parents). I knew I really wanted to play a virtual pet game, so I took out my DS and started Monster Tale. I finished that and still wasn't sated. I considered starting a new Pokemon game, but realized that a bunch of what I was missing was the community aspect of the web-based games. It's been too long since I was involved in any forums, and I missed making online friends and even just seeing familiar screen names and avatars around. So I decided that I should find a new online haunt.

I knew that I didn't want to go back to Neopets (for a number of reasons), so I started looking at lists of the best virtual pet games online and their descriptions. I recognized Subeta from a brief period a few years back (in high school, I think...) when I was hit with a similar nostalgia, but decided I wanted something with a different dynamic, and not just a Neopets copy. Sylestia seemed to have that based on the description, and the art and user stats (it seemed pretty active and large, but not so large as to be faceless) drew me in. Once I started I quickly became enthralled with it, and spent many hours trying to get to the end of the current story content. I was feeling pretty isolated in my new city, and even though I've started making IRL friends, it was nice to have the comfort of coming back home to an online community that was starting to feel like home. So Sylestia has been great for making me feel like an acceptable recluse, and not a complete hermit shunning all society. And I'm still here 24 days later, so that's a success -- nearing a month now! I should have some sort of giveaway or something to celebrate...

Similar story to ColonelHazard
I have an account from when neopets was about two years old and while I still have it I barely log in anymore, it's just too overwhelming and have a huge amount of unfair economy.

I'm an adult now too and I don't have the huge ammounts of time you need to spend on there in front of the computer unlike sylestia where you can spend a six hours away from it and still have a good progress.

I wanted a new pet breeding game with awesome artwork and quite new too so that in another fiftheen years my account would look amazingly old.

I was looling for pet breeding but when I saw an RPG mix I did not thought twice,, and have been hooked ever since ^_~

I can't remember where I found the game. But I'm here to create pairs and breed 2nd gen customs. I can't wait to make more pairs when the Fest starts. :)
