I know this could probably be more trouble than it's worth before I even start to say my idea, and I did debate not saying anything at all because I'm pretty positive it's been considered before. That being said, I think having separate threads if not for each species for the official contests, but at least to divide the fabled and nonfabled species would cut down time for both the players who want to see the designs, and the administrators trying to check through them all.

Ideally, there could be a thread per species, but that would probably just clog that section up with a bunch of threads, especially as more species are introduced. But I think just the cut between fabled and nonfabled could be useful. I like to check through the entries regularly to make sure I'm not inadvertently copying someone.

This might also apply for other kinds of contests, but I'm not as fussed about those, since this one appears to be the most popular. So yes, that's my two cents. Hope it's not too dumb, haha.

I actually sort of agree. The first night, there were about 15 pages. That's ONLY the first night. That and that's a lot of pictures for a computer or phone to load.

I think this would be more effort actually. It'd cause us to create 21 threads instead of just 1. When users post their designs, they now have to post 21 posts instead of 1 or 2.

And in the end, we'd still be looking at the same amount of posts/images - they'd just be in different places.

As for loading images, that doesn't affect anything. Any thread only loads 10 posts at a time. Whether a thread is a 1000 pages or 1, it loads each page just as fast.

I honestly don't think separating the sylesties out by type would help very much at all >> Not for choosing, and not for those that have trouble with too many images. Might help those of us with the sylesti creation bug, but that's about it.

Right now, you can fit something like 50 images in a post (give or take, depending on how much other writing there is in the post). So.... one post can hold a male and a female of each Sylesti type, and then maybe a couple more. That means that if you do a theme for each type of sylesti, you can do maybe three different looks for each species in the two posts allowed in the current thread. So, depending on a person's preference, something like 3 - 20 different looks per sylesti per creator (20 being an assumption that the person really likes one kind of sylesti and only makes creations for that type). Most people like to create for more than one type, so they may make somewhere between 1 and 5 -ish styles per sylesti that they are creating for, simply because of space constraints.

Now, imagine that there is a whole thread for each species! Suddenly, even with an allowance of only one post in each thread, everyone could make 20 or more themes per pet, per creator. That's anywhere from 4 to 20 times the number of entries for the admins to wade through at choosing time. And not that big a difference for those that have issues with pictures loading slowly. It would actually compound the problem because now, instead of wading through just one thread to see all the entries, you'd have to wade through 21+ every festival @.@

The only people that would benefit from this (other than the people who live on the generator), would be those who only wanted to look at ideas for certain pets and not others. So.... yeah, I don't think, over all, that this would be a good idea.

Eh like I said, I was mostly just thinking two threads, one for fabled, and one for non. I (personally) am a methodical person and would like one for each because then you could look one species at a time and pick your favourites. But if you're just going through to see what catches your eye, then having all the types mixed up makes sense. I do feel that the one split might make it a little easier on length, though. But maybe it would just cause way more entries and trouble.

I guess it's a personal preference thing. I don't like looking through all the pages on one forum post, it makes me feel like it's longer. But as I'm not the one judging the contest it doesn't really matter.
