I'm frustrated by this Festival Wheel. I did not get lucky. My luck stank. lol That got me to thinking about what I would be willing to spend money on next festival, because it surely won't be the wheel we have now again. It's just not worth it to me. I don't care how many philters I get. So, I got to thinking...What about an Egg Wheel? A wheel, separate from the one we have now, that's just...Eggs, eggs and more eggs! :D
People on the site come up with so many gorgeous, beautiful pet designs. Why not showcase more of them on the Egg Wheel?
Now, the original wheel would still have the 3 vis that people want and go for. The Egg Wheel might have 1 vis, 1 carry, or up to 2 visible pets. The cost of the tickets could be kept the same price as the original wheel.
I'm thinking of some alternative that's frankly, win/win. There's a reason I don't gamble in RL. The only reason I invested money again into the wheel is because it was supposed to be luckier. Not to me it wasn't. And I don't like to lose. ha ha Am I willing to sink another dime into the Wheel we have now? Not a chance, no matter what the admins, who I do love to death, say about how lucky it is now. (sorry you guys) Would I be willing to spend money on an Egg Wheel full of lovely pets? You bet.
If anyone has thoughts, please post them. I don't know if this is feasible or not, but it sure sounds good. lol

So much support here.
I don't care for anything but the eggs anyway.

edit: i made a long post woops, be ready to read, sorry i get so wordy zzz
tl;dr, posted at bottom as well
Your system of sure-guarantees already exists (in essences and the rest of the breeding features of the site). The wheel is a different entity that thrives off of rarity.
Devil's advocating, so don't hurt me o:
1. Using community designs imo is a way to get involved and cut time for admins to think up their own designs (I mean, I'm not creative at all compared to the community aha), but otherwise, the second part of your post "People on the site come up with so many...pet designs" is assuming that they turn into wheel pets.
Essences have a use because of the limitless possibilities they can grant. Thus, even if some designs aren't selected, they're STILL able to become real things with essences. Just not tagged. And distributed to the community.
2. The sense of rarity (and when I say rarity I mean gosh darn it we can't get those pets ever) that comes from the small chances to get a wheel pet creates a sense of value to the tagged pets. While I see that more population of pets would be great for the breeding pool of genes/mutations, wouldn't a population of 500+ tagged pets just devalue the pet?
That's assuming we're talking economy of course.
I'm not sure if every person who made their pet would think this way, of course, but I'm sure there are some who would love to see all different kinds of their design have different kinds of traits, and bred up to the 6vis. That's different from the viewpoint of economy where you start adding "200k to breed with a female" or "50k per male breeding" or "diamond only auction for this tagged wheel pet" sorta deal.
The fact is, their rarity creates their purpose in the economy.
(and it's a sad thing that players put in so much gold/diamonds into the economy, and it disproportionately (I use this word in the sense that people feel like their luck failed) rewards what was spent.)
I keep comparing the wheel to gachapons in other games, where it's basically the game company's ploy to get customers to sink money for rare chances to get rare things. There wouldn't be a return-rate of people coming to sink more money if pets were more available.
This idea would be irrelevant if the egg wheel was successful. By that, I mean people are actually happy owning 1carry-1vis wheel themed pets. Which aren't mutatable by the way.
In which essences are probably more rewarding...since essences can at the least guarantee a 1vis of any color you want. But I guess using essences isn't the same as getting a themed tagged pet, can't please many. s:
I'll try to get positive from here.
3. I think hosting more sets of pets by the community to distribute to everyone's cool. Especially if they become their own little tier. A medium between the SUPER DUPER RAREULTIMATE WHEEL PETS SPIN TO WIN and the WILD IN THE ZONE PLEASE APPEAR FOR ONCE pets.
That's of course up to the admins' discretion if they wanna showcase more pets and tag em. I mean, festivals already have 2 sets of wild zone pets and 1 wheel set. That's a bunch of tags per festival.
Though, not every festival necessarily has to be made by community. Sometimes, Krin and Fai make some of these color templates. It's completely their choice to include the community on certain parts. So the obligation to create a new set for a new wheel/zone/purpose can be stressful if they forget to make a community-design thread or choose not to have the community help at all. (Of course because they're so nice, we keep seeing these festival community-suggested things, and I'm sure you know some sites might not even consider community opinions and still be JUST as successful)
So yes, I think this idea has some potential.
4. "But just remember, tens of thousands of spins occur each festival. If we made the prizes too good, it'll completely ruin economies outside of the festival. And unfortunately, the lesser philters are really the only "junk" items we have at this point. If we had crafting and other stuff available, I'm sure we could have more useful rewards. But at this point, it's all we have. =\" - Krinadon
aka yes for now, the gap of satisfaction and disappointment is giant because sylestia's items are pretty terrible.
yes i know we don't like philters. we hiss at em yeah lol.
Gachas like this usually have booby items just to alleviate the 99% loss when we try for the 1% grand prize. Would you rather get nothing for your 100 diamonds/ticket when you spin and find out you didn't win a pet?
For now, philters are pretty useless. But Krin assures (and other games already have in effect) that in the future, he'll fix EVERYTHING of sylestia. This not only includes interface changes, but item changes. We will no longer have crap philters that we don't understand how to use. But something nicer to plug into our crappy wheels of tears and sadness when we lose. xD
Anyways, I personally come from a standpoint that tags and themes aren't everything.
I reference Cat1990 whose generosity in essences allows users to easily create ANY design they choose. Projects that need no tag nor acknowledgment by admins to become a site-renowned pet.
Every and EVERY pet that was not used in the small box of designs that were put into the festival could become real pets with the use of essences or dyes. We can spend money on essences in a more guaranteed way to get the pets we want.
And if players have no cash, they just work hard to breed using other offspring or such to make what they want a reality.

I understand everything you're saying, Flute. It makes perfect, logical sense. Be that as it may, I'm not willing to support the site financially using that wheel anymore, logic and all. lol I don't see it as worth it. And logic dictates that if people don't see something as worth it, they're not going to buy it, simple as that.
I had no intentions whatsoever of spending one dime on the wheel this go round because of my last experience with it. The only reason I did was because the wheel was advertised as being a better one, with better odds. I didn't see it at all. Krin stating that the odds of getting wheel pets IS higher flat out doesn't matter to people like me who didn't get the 'luckier' results.
We can discuss the Sylestia economy till the cows come home. But if people spend real money and they don't feel like they're getting bang for their buck, they stop spending. And that's a fact that the admins will have to consider as well as the game economics.
I decided to give this 'lucky' wheel one more shot to the tune of 1600 diamonds on tickets. My luck hasn't changed. lol Ah well, that's that. I'm done with it.
