Essences (species-specific) each can make one new pet from generating. You can buy them from the Broker, earn some from Nurturing, you can sometimes get them dropped from Battling, and you can earn them from Jinxie's Jamboree. When there are events, it is usual that essences are wheel prizes, forum prizes, and so on. Each type of essence can only be used in the appropriate generator (Mystical > Enhanced > Regular) Traps (buyable at markets) can catch wild pets. Look at the star color to determine the rarity of the pet (it determines the GP). No color < Green < Blue < Purple < Orange. Certain traps can only trap up to certain rarities (look at the mouseover in shops/inventory/broker). Buying pets (through search or forums). You can look by species, maturity, genes, mutations, etc. Make sure to set the "For Sale" option to "Yes". You can also look in the Pet Auction/Pet Breeding forums. Breeding pets (your own, and through search). You can breed Adult pets (make sure they're not Adolescents) through the Breeding generator if you have adult male and female sylesti of the same species. If you wish to breed with another's pet, go through search and set the "For Breeding" option to "Yes". You can also look in the Pet Breeding forums. Hopefully that all made sense!
