I'm still fairly new on Sylestia, so I don't know if there is an event celebrating the site's anniversary or not (if not an event for this would be super awesome XD ). During this celebration I think it would be fantastic to bring back old festival pets (wheel and regular), so new players can get a chance to own them and so that the breeding pools for these pets can be expanded.

This would be especially useful for tagged pets that have a very limited gene pool or no gene pool whatsoever. (Some examples: Festive Nephini - 0 pets; Sweet Pea Nephini - 1 pet; Chocolate Fudge Lighira - 8 pets; etc). Plus, it would help make more traits available in the exclusive pets (since they can't be mutated) that simply aren't there not because they weren't released, but because luck didn't favour them.

I like the idea, but most likely these return pets would have to have some kind of additional tag so that users know that they aren't the original.

Hmmm, maybe. Although, I don't really see why they would need to since the dates they were obtained would clearly indicate which festival/event they came from. Plus, if Krin does eventually install a means of tracking purebred offspring of tagged (which the last I heard was going to be a new 'Type') it would mess that system up since the tags on the parents have to match.

I don't know for sure though. Thoughts, suggestions?

None of the Wheels have ever had a chance to return so who know if the wheels are actually going to get new pets every year or not. The only reason that they got new pets for Spring was because it wasn't until Summer that they started Tagging Themed pets.

Though as the owner of the very last Irish Luck Puffadore that was released during the fortune Festive, I'm not all that keen on the idea of re-releasing them... It would take away from one of her special qualities... :(

What special quality are you referring to?

The fact that she'd the very last one ever given out? If more are released, she will no longer be the very last one. She will be just another 3-vis IL puff.

Edit: However Sylestia did give users anniversary avatar items on the sites birthday and Im not sure if it was for end of the year or anniversary but I think it might have been for anniversary that they had a sale and released old avatar items... Though again, could have been end-of-the-year

Are people somehow more interested in breeding with your Puff over other 3 vis IL Puffs because she's the last one collected? Because if not, then how exactly is it a special quality? I don't understand.


As a side note:
I'm not suggesting loads of them become available either. They could do something like one or two special egg auctions to increase the breeding populations. That way, not too many would be added, but there would be additional breeders to actually allow for breedings in some cases and in others make breeding easier and provide more traits to breed in. ^^

I don't breed my puff. O.o It's just significantly special to ME as a person. Game wise it's nothing, however I am proud of it and would be very upset if she was no longer the last. Even if there was only one more IL puff, it would still make her less special TO ME. It's moxie. Her value in being last is personal and its a source of pride.

There was an anniversary special when it came around for the first time; a few avatar items were given out, and a sale went up, iirc.

However, the idea of bringing pets back is fairly silly, given that we continually see new pets included. Certain species are rare, such as the Nephini. Owning one is a symbol of both dedication and luck. Mostly luck. Exclusive pets are meant to be just that - exclusive. There are plenty of kind breeders who will give newbies an offspring of the more common themed, thus sharing the wealth, so to speak.

I'm on the fence about this, to be honest. Regular themed pets generally have a large enough population for this to not be an issue. Wheel pets.... well, their small populations tend to create a real sense of community as their owners strive to obtain higher gened offspring. But the caught nephinis? That's where I do think that the populations could use a boost. I'm sad for those that have populations so small that they can't conceivably breed within their theme (anything less than two males and two females). I'm especially sad when I see the theme empty because none were caught. I really want to know what they looked like! So.... maybe on the anniversary, a small festival zone that contains, maybe, a single set of new themes for the more common pets, but a chance to find any past festival's nephini that has, say, less than 5 currently in game? The chances to find any of the nephini would be the same as always, but it could give a chance to boost those impossible populations.

In any case, that's the situation and circumstance that I would support. Otherwise.... I think most of the populations of themed pets are sustainable.
