Sorry for the newbie question, I just came back from a long hiatus. OTL

How do you breed for superior stats? As far as I can tell it's is, leveling up pets won't affect offspring, philters permanently raise the base stats of pets and pass to offspring, for some breeds enh/mystical essences give higher stats, and nurturing increases stats. If these are accurate, then:

If I use a philter on an egg, when that egg has offspring, then the offspring from that pet will be increased without a philter. Is this cumulative through generations, or are pets only affected by philters once in their line?

How much does nurturing affect pets? And I hear that specific nurtures only affect certain stats, is that true?

I hear there's a cap on how high a stat can go for a bred pet. Do we know what the caps are yet?

Thank you!

This will answer some of your questions. Though it takes some reading through. I don't think anyone knows the cap yet.

I've already read that, actually! It's how I knew what I asked in the OP, though I'd like some clarity in the things in the thread. ;w;

Well it specifically answers your questions about nurturing.

And no leveling does not affect the babies... yes, philters are cumulative, or there would be no way to stat breed.

I'm bored so I'll answer your questions directly. xD

Breeding affects base stats, the stats pets have at lvl0.
This can only be influenced by philters or how you hatch the egg. (I heard nurturing helps too, but I don't know to what extent, sorry. To be truthful, I doubt many pets have enough nurtures to make a significant influence in their stats, because most of the pets' aging is due to time and cuts off the window for pets to be nurtured anyways.)

Let's start with an example. Say you have a pair of parents, one with 11 intelligence and one with 10 intelligence. Together, they made a baby.
That baby gets the average between those two numbers off the bat, 10-11 intelligence.

If you philter the baby for intelligence, you add +5 to that base stat. That's 15-16 intelligence. Let's say it hatched with 15.

Now what becomes of the offspring of THAT baby depends on what you mate it to.
You can have:

a) Mate it to a pet with 10 intelligence.
The average between those base stats is 10-15. Thus the offspring there would be lower statted without philters.

b) Mate it to a pet with 15 intelligence (matches the original baby).
The average is 15-15, so you'd have a 15 intelligence offspring, roughly anyways, without philters.

So it depends on the parents' base stats, because the stat of the baby is the average between the stats of the two parents.

Unless Krin interjects, I don't think there's a stat cap for how high they can be raised by breeding. I'd like confirmation on this but I'd think he's busy with festival aha.
I have seen people breed over base stat 100s across all stats, most likely with cumulative prismatics in one line.

Last I asked Krin about stat caps, he said there currently are none, but he will be implementing them in the future~ =w=
