With both the old and new versions of exploration, there are certain events where you get to fight wave after wave of mob. Like running into a horde of undead in the earlier zones, and the one quest where you fight a ton of Lunemara in the newer zone "Sweet Blossom Orchard."
Honestly, I love these!! But the quest is only doable once, and the encounters in the older exploration zones are extremely rare, and usually they're many levels below my pets.
I think it'd be an awesome combat challenge to just go to a place like the arena and battle it out to your heart's content with a point system for rewards. But rather than binding it by level challenges, just have it work like the scaled-level dynamic events where only the number of opponents increases, as well as their difficulty ranking. Something like this:
Wave 1: 15x 2-star opponents.
*intermission to heal, or exit with acquired combat points*
Wave 2: 10x 3-star opponents + 10x 2-star opponents.
*intermission to heal, or exit with acquired combat points*
Wave 3: 1x 4-star opponent + 15x 3-star opponents + 10 2-star opponents
*intermission to heal, or exit with acquired combat points*
Wave 4: 3x 4-star opponents + 20x 3-star opponents
*intermission to heal, or exit with acquired combat points*
Wave 5: 3x 5-star opponents + 5x 4-star opponents + 10x 3-star opponents
*Victory! Bonus chest or prize options given as well as combat points.*
Possibly add in more waves of higher difficulty and continue on with better prizes and more points. Or just set up different base-levels of difficulty. Like "Easy" has zombies and less number and difficulty of mobs for the waves, but lower points. "Normal" are the mushroom people (Mycanoids??) with a basic difficulty and normal number of points. "Hard" are Vorkids with above-average difficulty and have increased points and prizes. And "Chaos" are Trolls, with the fiercest appearance, with a much higher difficulty rating and possibly more refined battle sequences, like the special effects certain bosses have, but for the effort they give more points and excellent prizes.
Most likely the main purpose of points and prizes would be pet gear, which would help in progressing through waves and possibly in getting a decent start at the Arena. Maybe an avatar set as well like the Arena has, or even a new fierce-looking pet to go with it.
See, the one thing I seriously didn't like about the Arena itself is that after having to be at a high level to get there, you HAVE to start with level 25 for the arena challenges. Meaning bringing up new pets, and somehow gathering excellent gear for them after most likely selling everything from that level range while progressing through the quest line. I did actually breed a team for such a purpose, and I got them geared and eventually did manage to take down the first arena boss, but it was a tough challenge and honestly not that thrilling to me. It just got kind of.. monotonous to look at the same mob and slooooooooooooooooooooooowly tick down his health. (And for the record all of those 'o's were individually placed until I felt satisfied that it compared with the rate of progression on squishing that beast. XD)
With a mass-mob combat setup, at least you get to eliminate opponents through the constant "3, 3, 3, E; 3, 3, 3, E; 3, 3, 3, E; 3, 3, 3, E; 3, 3, 3, E" and feel like you're actually getting somewhere. And it's friendlier to lesser-geared pets since the first wave would start off fairly easy as opposed the sudden "epic squish fest" of the unprepared souls facing the arena for the first time. (My poor pets. They didn't stand a chance v.v) And it could be started with ANY level of pet right from the get-go since the 'waves' scale to the party's level.

I like the idea of having an endless challenge that scales to your level.
There is a wave challenge in the arena... I don't remember if it's unlocked from the start or if you have to beat everyone - but only for level 25 of course.

I love this idea!
But maybe they should make it a new thing for it's self and not in the arena? Other wise it could be annoying if it follows the same principles as that and like me, you have none of that certain level...

Support! I love it when I encounter level 50 mobs in the dungeons when I have a level 20-30 pet riding on the back of my two level 60s. Then that lower level pet gets 10k+ experience points and there are generally some gear that I can sell off. XD

Just as a non specific response, both the Arena and our Exploration System (old and new) are still just a fraction of what we envision. At some point, those systems too will be revamped to the new layout and when that time comes, we'll have the opportunity to make a ton of coding improvements. That in turn will allow us to greatly expand the limits of the systems.
Additionally, we are also planning on completely redoing the whole battling system. This includes improving how battles work, completely redoing proficiencies and abilities, stats and items.
When all of that is finished, it will be 100x improved and we will have the tools to do all sorts of neat and interesting things, both out in the world and in closed environments like the Arena.
