Have I just missed them or something? I have some pets that need some and I can't seem to find where to buy them.

I'm pretty sure you can only get single use genetic tests as part of your "welcome to the game" inventory. A test kit with unlimited uses is available from the diamond shop, but some users who have already bought it offer free testing services! Check out the Groups, Guilds, Clubs, and Services forum, it looks like Draculina or Eid0lon could test your pets :)
