I recieved 2 contest pouches yesterday from the event however, my task list isn't updating to reflect that I got them

Are you confusing the Contest Reward Pouches for the Leaderboard Reward Pouches? They are two separate items and there are different Tasks for them.

....it was for the summer festival contest reward? so i thought that meant it was a contest prize

The Contest Reward Pouches are earned as you earn points during the Contest.
The Leaderboard Reward Pouches are handed out after the Contests end if you placed on any of the Leaderboards. Since you listed yesterday as the time you received them, I am assuming you were referring to the Leaderboard Reward Pouches, which were handed out yesterday.
