I'm not certain what traps you're after, but only master traps can be traded/sold by players.

They're usually the ones people only use for special catches, as they're guaranteed to catch whatever you're after - however, they're also expensive. 500 diamonds (off sale) in the diamond shop. Sometimes they can be found on the broker for sale, but it doesn't look like there are any up atm.

Regular traps can be purchased at different locations, depending on where you are in the storyline. In Esior's Haven, for example, they can be found in the market for gold. As you progress in the story/locations, you'll be able to get stronger traps.

It definitely is difficult early on to make gold. It does get easier. :) I highly recommend doing missions as you're able.

Hi, the only pet traps that players can sell to one another are the Masterful Snare Traps, which can be used to catch any pet rarity, but are best used for catching Legendaries and Mythicals. These traps are guaranteed to catch the pet it's used on and can be used in any area of the game. But unless you get them from completing a festival task(Not currently available), or get one from another user(Someone sending you one, or bought off the Trade Broker*Link* in the Traps section), they cost Diamonds to purchase.
Diamonds though, if you can not buy them with real money, can be bought from other users through the Currency Exchange(Link), for gold.

The other traps in the game cannot be traded or bought from other users, and are instead ones you have to buy yourself.
You can buy the traps in the main towns in the game. Based on your user level, I'd assume you have access to either the first area, or perhaps both the first and second, and in that case, you'd buy traps from Esior's Haven(Link) in the Market area, and the Sanctuary of Saerielle(Link), also in the Market area.

Currently, you have access to Lesser and maybe Standard Snare Traps, but once you reach Ethernia, you'll have access to Strong Snare Traps.
Lesser Snare traps can catch Uncommon(Green Stars - 1 Trait Point) and Common(White/Grey Stars - No Trait Points) pets.
Standard Snare Traps can catch Rare(Blue Stars - 2 Trait Points), Uncommon(Green Stars - 1 Trait Point), and Common(White/Grey Stars - No Trait Points) pets.
Strong Snare Traps can catch Epic(Purple Stars - 4 Trait Points), Rare(Blue Stars - 2 Trait Points), Uncommon(Green Stars - 1 Trait Point), and Common(White/Grey Stars - No Trait Points) pets.
These traps can fail, and the pet can also run away from battle as well to avoid being trapped. One way to help avoid the pet running away is whittling down its health with quick attacks, and then when the health has been lowered quite a bit, you can attempt trapping the pet, with a higher chance of it not running.

Once you reach the Lost Grove, the LG has its own unique traps from the rest of the game, but Master Traps can be used in the LG. These traps work based on the amount of health a pet has left in battle, rather than its rarity. LG pets cannot run away from a battle, but traps can fail, so you may run out of traps when trying to catch a pet, especially when first starting out.

Edit:

Oop, I think I was typing all this out when Niverus answered, so if any of what I said is repetitive, I apologize, though I do hope I included some helpful information. ^-^
