I recently found this website only to find out that I guess I created an account in 2014? But I hadn't even done the tutorial so I have no idea how that all happened lol. It did say that I joined at, like, two in the morning, so I suppose that explains things.

A shame that I forgot about this game that hard though lmao. It's such a long time since then! And this game is pretty fun so far. I'll be sure to ask questions if I got any. I don't think I have any...for now haha. I've been looking in the forums in the newbie section, so hopefully I don't confuse myself too much.

Many species have been reworked, one is in the rework right now and there's been more battling and all than before.

Ah, yes... It's so many things that you could look into and it can get overwhelming *fast*. :'D
Especially if you look into breeding and traits and all... Battling is somewhat streamlined but if you want to breed pets to reach 6visible traits you're on for a ride haha

Man, it sucks that I can't remember. Though, I guess since I still had an entire tutorial to do, I suppose I didnt even do anything. Unless they added the tutorial later and it turns out that I did do some stuff. The site feels familiar. Like I do remember being on it, but anything beyond is a loss to me lmao.

So is that how you get traits and such for your animals? Just heela breeding? I believe I came from Flight Rising. (That's what led me here this time 'round) I joined there April 14th, 2014 (two months before joining this one). I believe that site was a year and some change at the time? Though, I have been playing that site religiously since then. (Aside from my college years). I kind of remember looking for more sites like FR when I joined there, so it would make sense if that's where I came from lmao.

For most other things you need a guide because otherwise it's pure chaos o3o

It's a lot about breeding to get traits for your pets since most start with 1 visible trait or 2 carried traits, yes
Themed pets for example, you can find them during festivals and they have a special colour theme going on
It's punnett square time if you want to know how genetics work here - so you need a few pets with the traits you want and then it's breeding time.
So if you have a minimum of 3 pets (2 females + 1 male or 2 males + 1 female) with all 6 trait slots covered you could go for a 6 visible pet - it will take quite a while to reach that tho. ~half a year if you're lucky, longer if you're unlucky with outcomes.

Ohh, I played Flight Rising for a bit too, didn't know that it's been as old as Sylestia is, tho.
I was always about breeding and that's what finally made me quit FR since the nests and clan size is quite small and doesn't allow much.
Was battling *alot* on FR until I kinda got burned out after I battled every day for the Nocturne festival and all the chests and eggs :'D

Phew, good thing I was good at punnett squares when I was in school. Albeit, I haven't done them in a long time since high school but maybe it'll be like stepping right back into things. Trial and error is also fun too. It's also fun to see what kind of combos I'll get. I know with my starter, I went with a few carried and one visible, but I assume that's what people typically do. I did notice that people sell for cheaper than I thought they would so that helps too.

I enjoy the breeding and the gene making on FR. Sadly, with all the new influx of players ever since they got rid of the registration windows, the Auction House economy went downhill and people sell really rare dragons/combos for the lowest you can go, so there's making money off of rare dragons is hard now. You almost have to start your own hatchery or hope that someone is looking for the specific one you priced higher.

I do a lot of coli grinding for sure, though. If my hatchlings don't sell, I'll level them to 5 (which takes like ten minutes max) and sell them for a pretty treasure. Then I save to get really cool genes and build dragons. My favorite part is just trying to make cool dragons from nothing. I started playing again in June of this year after being gone for a few years, I was hit with some inspo, so I've been just grinding and lore making lmao.

Ye! I play around on the generator a lot. I really like the Ryori, Lunemara, and Kelpari. And some others. There's one I really don't like and that's Qitari but that's only bc their scales trigger my trypophobia @A@ Other than that, they're all pretty cool :33

Yep, trial and error is also very fun. I like doing that a lot and just let the pets decide the traits they will have in the end if that makes sense... Like, I have a bigger breeding pool of themed pets and just throw them together and get surprised by their babies o3o
If you're not looking to buy special themed pets you can indeed get a few for very cheap - sometimes even ones that have some levels already so that missions from the Barracks are easier to complete!

Mhh, I think I joined when there still was a registration window, but I also don't quite remember. Didn't log in for years now - two at least. There was some kind of digging site event going on when I stopped playing and I think that lead to a new dragon species? I don't know their name, tho :'D

Here's a few themed pets for you - you can see that they're themed by the golden star next to their theme name. If something is a purebred offspring of a theme there will be the name of the theme and a blue star, just for your information!

So what's the difference between themed pets and regular? Do they have other stats or does it just mean that they're decked out? I also bought a Ryori for, like, 100 that had a few visibles and ended up being level 21 and I was so surprised Oo.

Oo, I wonder if that was the dustcrave or whatever it was called. I think that revealed the Obelisks. That was during the time I wasnt playing so I missed out on that cool reveal. They just introduced a new ancient species, like, a month ago n I love them bc they are p much eels with wings lmao.

I've been okay for the most part. I just focus on the action buttons a lil' harder. It's not like, insanely terrible, but it's enough to just make me kind squint my eyes with a face sometimes lmao.

Oof, themed pets. Okay, uh, I'll try to give you the full rundown lmao

Themed pets have had their colour palette designed by players or admins and can only be obtained during specific events on the site.
Some do have restricted traits that can only be obtained via the cash shop otherwise, so getting those if you want the traits is something to safe money, for example.

If you have collected a specific theme it will be listed in the Codex and if you've been the first person to get it you'll be written down with your name even.
Same goes if you're the first to complete a full 6 visible pet of a theme - you'll get written down in the Codex.
Themes retire every other year except for the ones that have the cash shop traits, those retire the moment the fest they were obtainable closes. (Majestic Themes)

Others - Regular and Fabled - will release a year, say Summer 2022, and will be obtainable again Summer 2023. After that they'll retire and are gone unless you're lucky and get them from the Black Friday Wheel.

When it comes to themed pets and stats: it depends. Majestic themed pets have insanely high starting stats, while others *can* have high starting stats. It depends if it is a pet from the fest zone (tamed) or a pet you sculpted/brewed/build/grew (exclusives) during the respective festivals.
You can increase the stats of regular or themed pets further by breeding them, so that's not the main reason of collecting one or another - it's also a lot of your own taste and way you play the game.

Regular Essence pets can be generated with a specific essence. You can choose the colours and the traits, but since they're regenable whenever you have the essence their worth is rather low.
