Hi everone,

My real name is private, so I'll be Ilhycha (feel free to abbreviate to Ilhy, or call me Jamie if you prefer something more "traditional") here.

I was born in 1990, so I suspect I'm one of the older new joining players (crazy, that!). I was born female, identify as such, and use she/ her pronouns - but don't expect anyone to keep track of it in this anonymous forum.

I currently work in a corporate office job in environmental reporting and controlling, and am really passionate about making our industries a lot more sustainable. Think of me as one of the 'good guys trying to work from inside the system'. My job, in laymans terms, is making sure that my company doesn't claim sustainable traits they don't actually have, and keep making good on claims.

I recently discovered this absolute gem of a game! The amount of love for art and hard work that have gone into it are absolutely incredible, and I'm already finding myself brooding over breeding charts in the evenings. Still trying to decide where to go with my account, but I think I'll be in for the long haul, so... there's time!

I have started an overview of my design projects here , so feel free to look around!

Hello and welcome to the game, Ilhy!

I hope you've had fun so far, especially since you joined straight into your first Festival.
I'm just one year away when it comes to the birth year, so you're not alone out there! As far as I know there are a few older players here who also just joined / recently joined.

When it comes to breeding and projects you will probably end up with a whole folder full breeding charts and themes, traits and all, haha. It can be very confusing at first, but it is for sure fun to dive into.

Are there any Sylestis that you like especially? :)

I did join straight into a festival, and let me tell you, that was confusing at first! :)

I'm still trying to figure out a lot of things, too - for example, is it Sylestis or Sylestites? Are any of them considered more "desirable" in general, or is it just a preference for looks? Is a themed Sylesti dependent on its coloring or also on its genetic traits? Aaaaahhhh.... ;)

Otherwise I am already catching myself with punnet squares every now and then, so that can only mean terrible things for my near future.

As to any I like... all of them? Is that an answer? I am currently a bit more partial to Aurleon, Kelpari, Ny'vene, Ryori - and my starter Zolnixi because she's been very patient with my trial-and-error!

Totally understandable, my first fest had me totally confused over so many things.

Mhhh. Since all Sylestis grow from the ground up and not from the ceiling down, I think it's Sylestis. If we get bat Sylestis someday it might change to Sylestites for those P:

There are species that are far more popular, but that doesn't equal that they're more desireable for you / your own taste.
Species that are less popular are way easier to get and are less pricey, for example Aurleons, Draeyl, Morkko and Nytekries.

Generally speaking, the Sylestis are split into two categories.
Fabled Species and Regular Species.
Fabled Species can only breed every 7 days while Regular Species can breed every 3 days.

Fabled Species are:
Aeridini, Ferrikki, Griffi, Lighira, Nephini, Ny'vene, Puffadore and Ryori.

Whenever a fest happens, these are usually far more pricey than the regular species and are looked way more after than the regulars, too.
While Ferrikkis clearly dominate the market when it comes to price and popularity, I myself don't really collect / like them.

When it comes to themes and festivals the whole thing gets scrambled, so no wonder you're confused about that. XD

During Festivals there will be *Majestic*, *Fabled* and *Regular* themes. While fabled and regular themes depend on the colours and not the traits, the majestic only come with a specific set of traits you can get.

A majestic theme can be a regular species, for example. You could get a majestic Aurleon with a specific set of traits that is only obtainable due to specific mutators from the Diamond Shop otherwise.

Also: It is perfectly fine to answer with "All of them" to that question, it was just so I can pick a few pets to yeet at you and don't end up giving you some you don't even like. P:
You can pick them up whenever you want! :D

Zolnixi:
https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=7267539
https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=7263269
They're both from the same theme, so if you breed them together they will give a PB (purebred) offspring that will maintain the theme name and get a "blue star" next to it. Whenever you breed within a theme, the theme name will not get erased from the overview and keep the blue star.

Also! These two are *Tamed Pets*, that means you can still use a Genetic Mutator on them as long as you don't breed them. After you've bred them the Mutator cannot be used anymore.
(Tamed Pets are caught in Fest Zones or the Lost Grove, for example.)

Exclusive Pets (from brewing et cetera) cannot be mutated, btw!

Feel free to look through my sales stable and pick a few more pets from Tab 1, Tab 2 and Tab 4 if you want. I'll lower the price to 1 Gold then.

Edit:
Oops, that was far more text than I planned it to be. :'D

Honestly, that was A LOT of text - but also quite a bit more helpful to me, personally, than most other things I have readin here so far, so thank you!

Specifically, the whole "Majestic" vs others had me very confused; so did the Tamed vs Exclusive - that's a lot clearer now!

I do have a question about the color code of the genes of a specific pet (blue, green, or violet). Originally, I assumed this had to do with their respective rarity - but I have since seen the same gene in different colors, so rarity can't be it (also, breeding would impact rarity, I assume, so that doesn't make long-term sense). So, what are these colors?

And also: are color schemes passed down genetically?

Last but not least: Thank you for the two Zolnixi! They are absolutely stunning... and have now sent me over the edge of preparing an excel of themed pets I've collected. Darn it. This will keep me busy for days, won't it?

Aaaaa I'm glad it was helpful at least, haha! I just noticed how much text it was after I've sent it @_@

If something's still unclear when it comes to all I've written feel free to ask, I'll do my best to reword / explain it differently then. :'D

So:
Green Code means it is a *carried* trait, a trait that is not visible on the pet but it's *there*, technically.
Blue Code means it is a *visible* trait on the pet, a trait you can clearly see.
Violet Code means there is a *visible* trait on the pet, but also a trait *hidden* behind it. Means, that the pet comes with *two traits* in one spot. Both Zolnixi have a hidden trait behind their shown one, for example!

If a code has the same two letters (AA) it is only one trait, nothing hiding there, but if it's AB you're up for a surprise. ;)

https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=7418152
Using this boy of yours as an example.

Gene 1 is Visible Cloud Leopard, but there is another hidden trait in that spot that can be passed down to his offspring.
Gene 2 is carried Petals. You can't see them on him, but they can still be given to his offsprings.
Gene 3 is Visible Runes. Only Runes, nothing hidin here.

When it comes to colour schemes and breeding:
The colours of the parents are mixed together / the offspring will be somewhere in between them.
So if you breed a white parent with a black parent the offspring will be grey, but if you pick a grey and a black parent the offspring will probably end up being a darker grey / nearly black.
Colour Theory it is for this :'D

And oh boy, you're up to something there.
I have a whole thread to keep track of the themes I own and the traits I have on them. It will take ages, but it's so much fun to do - for me personally at least P:

That color coding makes a lot more sense! I had already figured out the whole letter thing, but never made the connection to the colors - I studied maths, not art, and I think it may show here :-D

I think I'm good for now (except I am currently knee deep in an Excel file with frequencies of breedable traits, and I'm afraid I may be lost to the world for the foreseeable future)... I may get back to you with more questions unless I starve while crossreferencing. :D

And here am I, who has no idea how to math but does know how to art. Merged powers it is! :))

Oh wow, that sounds like a *lot* of work you've just given yourself...

Since you talked about the Punnett Square I don't think I have to explain more for the genetics anyways, since that is exactly how it works here. XD

Time to count the days until you reach the surface of the current plane of existence again :'D
