Hello, and nice to meet you.
I'm looking to run a game to grow my almost nonexistent descriptive writing and roleplaying skills. I don't have any experience either running or playing a traditional roleplay, so we'll see how this goes.
The world would be a post-apoctalyptic medieval high fantasy. As in, it used to be a traditional medieval fantasy world and now it's a post-apoctalyptic wasteland. Decades of warring with reality warping magic takes its toll, and nothing knows that more than the things that didn't participate. Ambient magic has seeped into everything, warping minds and shifting flesh. In some places, the very earth is hostile, growing both a mind and hunger of its own. In some places, side effects of high level spells render the area inhospitable. There may be lava in the middle of a frozen tundra, or a field of time warping magic that ages you to dust within seconds of entering. Flora and fauna have not been left unaffected. For example, deer had new eyes open along their side able to see through objects. Plants may have flowers whose spinning patterns hypnotize anyone who looks at them, or weaponize the water within themselves to cut any predators to shreds.
You've never seen a human, but you're aware of their effects. You live in the wall of one of their ruins, after all. The Anne Manor wasn't the fanciest of homes, but the nobles who used to live here warded it well enough that the worst of the magic-boosted storms from outside doesn't reach you and your family. Unfortunately, things have been getting worse and worse over the last few years. It's becoming too dangerous for your cousins to scavenge and there's only so much time until your food stocks run out. You, for some reason, have decided that you want to be part of the expedition to find a solution to this problem.
I'm used to D&D, so this will be in similar format. I will be "running" the game; that is, I will be describing situations and landscapes and you will be telling me what you want your character to do. That being said, if you want to change something about the world or add something to your character go ahead and have fun. Adaptability is another thing I need to exercise. I reserve the right to make up new rules on the fly.
Character Submission Guidelines.
A note: Only physical actions and will checks/saves may require rolls. If something requires a roll, I'll roll a d20 and add (or subtract) your stat modifier. You're trying to beat a number that will vary based on the difficulty of the action you're attempting. If you get lower than the number, you fail and something bad will happen. If you get higher than the number, you succeed. If you roll a 20, you get a critical success and get an additional benefit of some kind. If you roll a 1, you get a critical failure and get an additional detriment of some kind.
On stats: stats are +0 by default. You have five points to spend. You can take a single voluntary detriment in exchange for a single voluntary benefit (if you choose, you can take -1 from one stat for +1 in another.)
Another note: You are a mouse.
