It won't let me do anything. It says
"Congratulations on your newly caught Pet! Let's view your Quest Log and complete the Quest, "Capture a Sylesti" before continuing with Trollsblight Caverns.
Please use the Navigation Menu to navigate to Explore -> Quest Log, or click the button below to view your Quest Log."
But "capture a sylesti" doesn't appear to be there and I don't know how to start quests from there. Just how to abandon them.
What am i doing wrong?

I can see that you have caught your first pet - it looks like it was this one.
But I also see that the quest for Capturing a Sylesti is still marked as incomplete. I assume you caught that pet in Trollsblight's Caverns? Or did you somehow catch it elsewhere?
Regardless, I did go ahead and set your quest to be completed. If you visit your Quest Log, you should be able to complete it. If you aren't seeing it there, can you provide me with a screenshot of what your Quest Log looks like?

"capture a sylesti" does now appear under quests (it didn't before)
But I still haven't figured out how I'm supposed to start the quest because clicking on the troll caverns tells me to go complete this one first.

I believe I didn't quite set the quest as completed the first time around. Can you check your Quest Log again? It should be completed now.

Yep it's good.
It allowed me to click "completed" and the map no longer blocks me from doing other actions.
