I'm having a good time browsing the forums, but there are SO MANY threads I just want to skip past (RPs I am not involved in, folk's project pages, etc). Can we add a mark All as read button to the forum?

If you would prefer not to view a thread, then do not click on it.

Edit: if you are searching for a specific thread that has been buried, googling it might help. (Edit 2: as in, searching "Sylestia [thread_name]" on google instead of clicking through the Sylestia forums.)

Thanks for the sarcastic answer! The thread still stays lit up, and I would like the unread notification to go away. Hope that clears this up.

What is it you're asking for? If you're talking about unread threads being a deeper brown, the feature is working as intended. What would be the point of turning them tan because you don't care about them? Unlike PM's, forums are not targeted at you, so I don't see a point to having a 'mark as read' an indirect feature, if that's what you're asking for.

Unfortunately, the system isn't set up for a mechanic like this. The database only stores threads that you've looked at. There are currently over 100,000 threads. It would be extremely taxing to allow players to "Mark all as read" and store 100,000+ entries of read threads for any player who does that.

The system just wasn't built to accommodate such a thing.

The only alternative I could propose would be a system where players can choose a default of "Mark every thread as read". This would be an inverted system where instead it's only tracking threads you want marked as unread when a new post is made. But nothing like this exists atm and would have to be created from scratch and then an interface would have to be created to give players the option to adjust their settings.

I'll keep it mind down the road whenever the Forums get an update.
