Apparently this is a thing in TLG, which I wasn't aware of. I guess this is more of a suggestion for all areas, then.
*boomp* *click* *boomp* *boomp* *click* *click*
Probably fairly accurate to the sounds you hear while battling. A bit annoying, maybe, especially if you have a clacky mouse or keys.
I would like to propose a slight modification to the system that offers a button-only way to fight. For example:
I press the 1 button to use the first skill of a team member, which targets a single enemy. I press the 1 button again to target the enemy in the first row from the top (if there isn't one, it targets the next row with an enemy.
I press the 2 button to use the second skill of a fire-attuned team member. All enemies are targeted by default with that skill, so nothing changes from normal.
I press the 3 button to use the third skill of a light-attuned team member. I press the 2 button to heal the party member in the second row (the "first slot").
I'm sure I good define this idea more, but I'm running at about two braincells at the moment.

Besides the 3rd light move + targeting a party member, this is how battling in TLG works.
select 1 for first move, 1 for first enemy, repeat *2, and e to end turn,

I must have busted something somehow then, because it doesn't do that for me xD
