In a world full of magic and greatness, you'd think problems would be sparse. You'd also be wrong.

The arial have never tried to pretend they're perfect. They know that most other fey think them to be the bad guys, and frankly they don't care. But, problems have been worsening.

The magmas are losing rights by the day, under the guise of 'protection.' The age requirement to be a soldier is getting lower and lower. Nepotism is so high that there's nearly no point to try for any jobs outside of family businesses. The wars with other fey are getting increasingly violent and unnecessary.

With things going downhill so sharply, many are losing hope for things to improve. But that doesn't mean things can't get better.

General world info:

There's 6 elements- seelie, unseelie, aqua (sirens), ignis (essentially just dragons), terra (mostly oreads), and arial. Arial is the focus, obviously.

All 6 elements have some sort of physical 'theme' along with their general magic. Arial are winged and are birdlike in some way, though many have butterfly/moth features as well.

There's 3 different kinds of fey. Land fey breathe air. Aqua fey breathe water. Magma fey breathe sulfur. Magma fey are also far more fragile than the others.

Arial territory is hot and volcanic. Also mountainous. It's a pretty dry place but the town areas are quite lush. It also has acid rain due to the aforementioned volcanoes but they have tarps and stuff to protect the residents.

Iron hurts fey. I can't think of any reason any characters would be worried about iron but it's worth mentioning.

Arials lay eggs, despite how some of them seem sorta mammalian. They function somewhat like a platypus, as they still give milk, so they're just weird.

Arial tend to be very vibrant in colors, usually with a dark or mixed skintone that makes the vibrant feathers pop. Personally I suggest basing the feather designs on pre-existing birds and/or bugs, just to make things easier on yourself.

Species:

(I'm going to add more, so keep an eye out!)

Harpy: Powerful, naturally strong arial with mostly humanoid figures. They have a single pair of wings on their back, a short (down to their knees) feathered tail, and feathery ears that resemble tiny wings. They have darker skin than most other non-magma, as though they aren't volcanic fey their species evolved very close to volcanoes. They have no magic, but are very strong and heal fast. They're a massive priority when it comes to choosing soldiers.
Glasswing: Sleek, agile arial with somewhat gaunt bodies. It is physically impossible for them to be anything other than skinny because of their bone and muscle structure. They have a large pair of moth wings on their back, with a smaller arm-lenth pair of bird wings higher up their back. They have a sort of hybrid mouth, with their upper lip being very similar to a falcon's beak while their lower lip is fairly human. They have a pair of feathery antennae for ears, and massive tri-feather tails nearly twice the length of their body. They have an acidic spit that can melt through biological material in minutes, and it rusts iron as well.
Sicura- A fluffy summer-arial species who is guaranteed to come in pairs. Sicura are always born with their tails connected at the tips. Twins are the most common, but in cases of triplets, quadruplets, and so on the tail-connections branch out. Their wings are too small to sly, but they're extremely agile and great at climbing. They also have amazing senses. They don't have magic on their own, but they can refract the magic of others, converting it to their base elements. For example, fire magic would be converted to heat and light, plant magic to seeds and water.
Anataire- An uncanny race of large, somewhat ominous fey. Their wings appear metallic, with holes for tiny eyes throughout. They have no eyes on their face, instead having two eyes on each wing, one on the wrist of each hand, and one above their collarbone. They can see nearly everything all the time due to this. They also have a small form of telekinesis, being able to carry one item per eye (7 in total).

Interested!

can we do this as a PRP, though? again, anxiety triggers with public RPs.

Hey, can you add a reptillian fey? something akin to a gliding lizard. they can live in warm areas, possibly near the volcanos. i got an idea for a character that isnt reptillian, but the reptile nerd in me would be overjoyed if you did that.

Name: Haasteria, nickname Haast (named after the prehistoric Haast Eagle)

Gender: female

Age: 16

Species: harpy

Appearance: its on this link, but anthro-ized. click Alt to see the full animal. (also, the body is that of a... good-on-the-eyes teen girl, with a larger-than-average rack and butt.)

https://jurassic-world-alive.fandom.com/wiki/Haast_Eagle

Personality: kind and brave, but can be hotheaded when provoked. is often... oggled by pervs due to her body, and she will WRECK them when she catches them staring. this makes her closed off and self-concious. shes also taunted for her light coloration when everyone else has darker skin and feathers. she has a wild side and can act like a wild eagle at times.

Backstory: her parents died in mysterious ways, and she survived by hunting like a wild eagle, which caused her to go an incurable amount of crazy, giving her a split personality of a wild eagle. she became sane a while later, and joined society as an outcast.

Other:shes really strong, an incredible flier, fast on her feet, a sharp beak, and great with a spear and bow/arrow. however, this comes with the need of lots of food, giving her a massive appetite, and she tires quickly.

For the reptile- just make some sort of ignis hybrid! Ignises are all dragons of some kind, and though the arials would never tolerate a full-fledged dragon in their midst they wouldn't mind a hybrid. A wyvern-sicura, a drake-glasswing, etc. ! Though note that basilisks and shen can't fly since in this world they're winter fey instead of the 'dragon group'.
