For a long, long time, people assumed mythical creatures simply didn't exist. They're just something people back in the B.C. days made up when they were bored. If there were singing fish women leading sailors to their deaths, and winged horses jumping out of ladies' decapitated heads, surely there'd be evidence of it?


That is exactly what the mythosies have been relying on. Sirens pretending to be mute, hiding their tails with wheelchairs. Sphinxes hiding their lion half with long clothes and deliberately avoiding people. Kelpies simply refusing to shift to horse form.


But now, the mythosies have been discovered. Not only that, they're being hunted down. It's well-known that humans fear what they don't know- and these beings aren't something humans are knowledgeable on.




Rules-

*To keep things interesting, there's only one character per species unless they're family (I'll include boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife as family). So, no two kelpies, no multiple sirens, etc.
*Please have your creature have the same or very similar powers/abilities to their myths! For example, a siren doesn't have to specifically hunt greek sailor men in a specific ocean, but he/she should still have vocal-based magic.
*No gods or demigods. Species of mythical creatures only.

Name- Mavaria
Species- Sphinx
Gender- Female
Personality- Friendly but slightly childish. Fairly mysterious and secretive, until she... isn't. Sometimes she's open as a book, other times she's more shut-off than a multi-billion dollar safe. Split-personality isn't the right word, but her secretiveness is a bit volatile. She adores reading and literature, especially poetry.
Appearance- When she's hiding her mythical parts, she looks to be a beautiful womena, probably from somewhere in South Africa. Her skin is a deep chocolate color, dotted with deep freckles. Her facial features are long and symmetrical, giving her a very mature look. Her eyes are a pale, almost ethereal ice blue. Her hair is long and black, and naturally curls. She's dyed the tips a deep scarlet. She often has it up in a french-braided bun. Her lion half is a normal, short-furred tan lion, with blonde mane-fur on the tail-tip. Her wings resemble a starling, being black at a glimpse but blue-green iridescent.
Backstory- According to herself, she's been around ever since legends of her kind has existed. All the other sphinxes, at least the ones she knows, are long-dead. She's hence a bit lonely and will gladly make new friends, especially ones where she can relentlessly ask them riddles.
Powers- She can learn any language, if given a few hours. This applies to unspoken languages, like sign language, and even computer languages like binary. She can also come up with riddles basically instantly, and when offered a deal, should she agree to it she is unable to break it.

Name- Most entities simply refer to him as "Sage".
Species- Greater Kitsune
Gender- Male
Personality- He is an old and wise creature, and very difficult to agitate. He's seen the world age from generation to generation, simply from his secluded home in the mountains of Japan.
Appearance- He is a fairly generic-looking Zheng, (as seen below), however, his size is significantly greater due to his age and "Greater" status.

Backstory- 'Sage' was fascinated about the outside world. One day, he sought out one specific area that granted one single wish, by a giant mountain tree. His wish was also technically a curse. 'Immortality'. To him, it wasn't a curse, as he was very smart with his wish. He can still die of wounds, rarely of age, but the key thing is rebirth. If he dies, he will reach a higher state of the mortal plane, though it may take a few years or so to find another physical form.
Powers/abilities-
[Kodai no Shugeki]: The user dashes in quickly for a fury of refined hits and techniques. This attack can KO a target if they're in a very weakened state. The assault is both physical and magical.
[Omunimanshi]: The user can attack with several natural elements of magic.
[Tekio]: Allows the user to shape-shift, or "adapt", to another form. Sage arguably uses this the most to blend in with the normal world.

[Fumetsu] The target can't really die, but lose the physical form. Takes 1-25 years to find another foxlike body to adapt to the Kitsune's great power. The user is more durable to most forms of damage, despite being a mostly magic being.

Other- (Attempt 2 at it, I should've done more Zheng research. Also changed the ability names to the respective language. Hopefully he isn't too OP.

(Woah, this is interesting. I actually went into research of a few creatures and found a fairly interesting one. Felt like Dragons were too generic, anyway.)

I'm very sorry, because I had no idea about Zheng and it sounds super neat, but from what I can tell (looked him up) he's a singular being, and those are against the rules. Kitsunes are something I've researched a lot, and they have similar mythology and abilities, whilst being a species instead of one character- if you'd still like to join, that'd be a good alternative :).



Also, you seem to be mistaken about abilities. This isn't a DnD thing. They don't have stats.

No prob! Kitsunes have shapeshifting as part of their mythos, anyways- which gives ya boi a very easy way to blend in with humans, because generally people will question a mythical fox with 2+ tails wandering the city and chatting with people!

I won't limit the elements thing. Buuuuut, let's have it so he can only use one at a time. How you wanna set these limits is up to you- maybe it's emotion based (anger= fire powers, sorrow= water, etc.), maybe it's environment based (hot place=fire, ocean/large lake=water), whatever ya wanna do for that is fine, it's just best to avoid him being too strong~
