Wow this is great so far. Also what if the hunter society is a secret? In lots of shows and what not they tend to be as secret as the monsters right?

I agree with this, I think it would be nice if our characters rely on teamwork to defeat a monster! I have no comments for the tragic past though, since I'm not really sure what kind of past would be considered too tragic... I've made rough description for my own character for this RP and she's gonna have a family. But still, I'm not sure if it's going to be too tragic. Can you give me an example? OuO
I meant that not all of us play a character who's family was murderd or killed by a fire or monsters etc.
Or if they do have family that that family is abusive. Again I am fine with one of us having such a past but not all of us. If more of us would like such a past we should discuss who gets it. I don't mean everybody needs to have happy past either though. I mean they do monster hunt. Just not the stereotype tragic pasts. But again just a suggestion.

So it's like you're playing both of your main 'good' character and your character's 'nemesis' right? That's a good idea I think, I might not do the same though... My brain is borked and I can only play 1 character per RP. XDDDDDDDDDDD
Almost right. But I don't mean that you play your own good guy and your own bad guy, but that you play your own good guy but another bad guy.
Example: I play girl A who is good at shapeshifters You play girl B who is good at vampires
But I play a bad vampire so I can play your bad guy. And you play a bad shapeshifter so you play my bad guy.
This way there is more interaction then whan you play both your own good guy and bad guy.

Agreed! There should be an age limitation, like at the age of 17-24 they should undergo a special training first, then at the age of 25 they are officially good enough to fight on their own. So no characters being too young.

Okay, my biggest question for you guys are going to be the world we're playing in. Is there going to be any magical powers? Like controlling fire, water, force, etc. Or it's just superb physical enhancement such as super strength, the shapeshifting, eagle eyesight, supreme agility, etc.
Hmm I like this to a degree, it should not be to much though because that would overshadow their normal fighting skills and the risk of getting a way to powerfull character is also bigger. So I think some characters could have 1 or a few extra abilities, and that the characters who don't have those make up with them or being better fighters etc.

As for my suggestion, I think the monsters should be a human or living alongside humans as well, but they sort of use their ability for no good. Like a person with super strength abuses his power by killing humans without super power, or vampires that pretended to be normal humans but they suck the blood of random innocent people.
I think this could be used to some of the cases and some don't bother and just jump people.
The more clever and patiƫnt ones could do this.
There could also be a good monsters that live alongside humans and the hunters have a list keeping track of the good ones so they don't end up killing them.

How about mostly secret? Secret to most of the world but there are towns and coƶrperations that do know about them because they have connections with the hunters is some form or shape. And maybe high stationed goverment people would know?

Oh! So I get to play as someone else's nemesis... Alright then! But I hope it's okay if I only play one character... I don't think I can play both my main good guy and someone's nemesis... I'm not too confident with my RP-ing skill, so one character per RP is all I'm capable of! XD
Okay, as for my character... this is what I was going to make; a long time ago, my character's family was accused of cooperating with monsters and organizing attacks with them, so my character (who I will name Anna) went out to return her family's name to its former glory (she was once a part of a noble status but not from kings or queens, just like count and countess). It's just their great grandparents were once high and mighty but now they're just well-to-do. Is that too tragic guys?

Alright, so we vote for no 'too amazing' magical properties!

This sounds realistic! I agree~
I also liked the idea of the hunter organization being a secret, but how about this? Common people know there are hunter organization, but they don't know who these people are, it's like we're working in the shadows, people come and ask for our help through our 'eyes and ears' but they may not know who the hunters are.
For the sake of our safety too, we can't let our faces seen on public when we hunt! Maybe wearing capes or wearing something like venetian masks. How are we gonna hunt those monsters in disguise if we're famous! XDDDD

I like the ideas. I'm glad my secrecy idea came in handy. And what if each specification of monster hunter has a symbol that seems normal and then a symbol for the entire organization? Something to identify other hunters with.

@Amberanime, @Ruinia, @Starfall2466, @Celechan12,
Okay, here's what I'm thinking.
The 'big baddies' would be bossfights, and require definite teamwork. I also thought they would also be NPCs, run by the GM, but that's up for discussion. I also thought the lines between 'good' and 'evil' would be clearly drawn. We'd be the gritty, dark heroes, but the badguys would still be villainous.
I like the idea of specialized schools of hunting and emblems for each school. I also figured we'd be secretive-- If a hunter group goes public, there's going to be chaos, because it would mean the revelation of the 'things that go bump in the night.'
I figured each of us would have a dark backstory, but not anything too recent. I myself was seeing a long line of hunters in my family, with the odd survivor parenting the next generation-- Dangerous work, all this.
An age limit is a good plan. A twelve-year-old landing the killing blow on the local werewolf alpha or vampire head would be annoying to say the least.
Now, I was not picturing us running about with superpowers, but if everyone else wants to do that, I'm fine with it. I'll just refrain from that, and be a martial-focused character.
That's all I've got for now, I'll reply in more detail tomorrow.

I swear your post changed my view of our current RP world from Fallen London's universe to Bioshock's universe! XDDDD
I think making the bad guys NPCs (we all control him) are much easier in a way, though before we fight them, we all decide what his powers and characteristic should be, so the enemy itself wouldn't be too OOC.
All in all I like the ideas! I feel like we're almost done with the setting! Anything else?

Should there be some classes of monster hunters that don't actually hunt but like are support? Like blacksmiths and what not?
