When she wakes up the first thing she does is smile at her.

She returned the smile. "I'm not sure if you caught the siren, but it sounded. Work's over."

Aaron finally laid down her tool. The last few hours had all muddled. She almost felt like she could not remember them. She took a deep breath then grabbed her pickaxe and swung it over her shoulder. Her face showed nothing. Not her tiredness, nor hurt, or even frustration. It looked blank, almost inhuman. A kid came a little to close for her comfort and Aaron nearly lost it and swung the pickaxes at them. It sent the kid running but she acted as though nothing happened. Just a blank face.

Riley notices Shade grow tired, and knew that something wasn't right. Well, nothing was right about the Furnace. Or... maybe there was a 'right' thing in the Furnace, Riley just hadn't been introduced to that perspective yet.
Riley puts down his tool, taking deep steady breaths, hands on his hips as he regained energy slowly but surly. So far, it had been a bit like running cross country except for the fact that you were using more upper body strength and there wasn't any food, but that was alright because Riley wasn't even planning on eating anyways.
"You alright?" Riley asks, swiping a hand across his forehead to keep sweat from dripping inside his eyes. His brown hair felt plastered to his forehead, and his arms felt like noodles, too weak to do anything. Somehow, in a weird and odd way, Riley felt more alive than he had been in a while.

All Shade gave as a thumbs up, having to spread his wings a bit and press them to the ground in order to keep from falling down. He soon stood and folded them again, rolling his broad shoulders. "Yeah. Just probably shouldn't have taken a toll on my soul. Does a number."

"I see..." Riley says. "Then howabout we don't take tolls on souls? Oh that rhymed!" Riley chuckles softly, soon finding the strength to continue moving on to get away from the mines. He stays next to Shade, offering to help him if the dragon child needs it.

Shade gave a slightly tired but soft smile, he had been able to get a hold on himself. "Not taking the toll would be great, but it's part of me. I'm a stubborn dragon, trust me. We are rarely lenient, you'd be lucky to find a lenient dragon."
