She didnt understood why the man was sudenly laughing at her comment, at least until he explained it to her. But, laugh was a good reaction for humans, so why did he looked so resigned about it ? From the shapeshifter point of vew, general look ment little to nothing, especialy outside of fights so she coudn't realy see any issue with his size, if anything becoming smaller was usualy a threat display for her speacie during confrontation. Smaller ment that the form was stronger, more compact, capable to unfold with a greater strengh.
Eather way, she decided to let those though behind within the ever growing metaphoric pille of questions that plagued the back of her mind as the man sent a signal to his device to display a picture. Right away, several things looked wrong with the picture, she was reconising some of the mens on it but beyond that, one was looking just plain wrong. He was situated not too far from Adam, smiling just like the others in the image yet one things was disturbing her greately about him. There was no markings on him in the picture, at all, no stripes, no purple spots no nothing, just skin devoided of any type of magical circulation, it looked like a statue no, it looked dead yet it was clearly not. Asside from that very odd thing, she coudnt realy pick-up on any features from the criminal so she shook her head. " Nothing is ringing much of a bell..."
"Do you mind if I contact you later, for more details?"
She smile, still trying to convey that she was not threat. "Of course, uh, wait a moment..." She managed to fish out the old flip phone from her small bag while while quickly trying to recall what numbers it was connected with the device. Once it was done she simply gave it to him, thinking that she may just have to hunt the criminal she had previously ignored, just to be on the safe side. Still glancing once more at the picture she had the nagging feeling that she had to at least warn him about that thing. "Oh, uh... If you are still in contact with those guys, be carefull..." She then motioned to the one that had caugh her attention. "Especialy this one..."

Unfortunately, there's not many more details to be gleaned, so Adam thanks the woman again and gets ready to return to his post after handing her his number. She's using a flip phone, which is admittedly quite strange, but it's not unnatural to see supernatural folk that are behind modern technology since many enclaves separate themselves from humans due to communication barriers. Adam decides to count himself lucky that his contact has a phone at all, given that it's only been a decade or two since they fell out of popularity.
As he finishes recording her number however, Corvus leaves him with a warning that leaves Adam with prickles of discomfort in his gut. The man she's pointed at is one of his closest coworkers, one that he frequently joins on bar trips when the disturbing cases come along.
It leaves him loathe to trust the other because Adam is quite aware of how few details he has about her abilities, and he'll take the word of his friend over a stranger any day. Still, he gives her another nod and leaves, heading back towards the flashing lights and yellow tape to inspect his bloody trash can.

As she left, vanishing within the crowd, she could only hope the Adam had heard her warning. She herself wasnt sure what she was warning off but somthing was very wrong about the man in the picture, enough to scare her, whatever it was couldn't be good. Eather way she would nead another type of disguise to move about, human streets were a labyrinth that would do nothing but waste time to walk around. She pocketed her phone back in the small bag, sneakig into the nearest alley without bringing much attention to herself.
Once she confirmed that she was alone she activated her spacial core. It was still to small to create gateway and allow teleportation but it did gave her a small opening within space itself to store her belonging. Placing her bag in it, she quickly transformed, storing what she woudnt nead to use into the pocket dimention before closing it and desactivating her core once more.
As a cat she had a very pale short fur, yet it was alwais a bit too red, well more like a very pale pink in this case. The consistency of fur was hard to work with, pigmentation was easily turning bright green or blue whenever she tweaked it so the only solution she had found so far was to simply make it as dark or pale as possible, leaving only a hint of the original color.
Within this form she woudnt have to wory much about humans rules as she leapped directly on the nearby roof. Now, she was back into hunting mode, if she could find the pray that escaped then great, otherwhise she would eventualy found someone not doing that they were suposed too...

(Hope you don't mind the time skip. I can change it if you want, just couldn't figure out what to do with Adam.)
It's a few days later, with a few criminals inexplicably left beside their police cars, when Adam contracts Corvus again.
"Thank you for your help," he begins, phone tucked between his chin and shoulder as he exits a restaurant. He dodges a couple stood on the sidewalk and unlocks his car, continuing as he sits down and start the engine. "We were able to catch the culprit with the help that you'd given us."
Indeed, Corvus' information was spot on, though what was concerning was less how they discovered the attacker and more the state he'd been found in. He was one of the few criminals, all delivered to the same officer too - Ramirez. She'd found him laying by her car the day after they'd received the case with a few broken bones and the victim's blood on his clothes. It's a shame that their next is so much harder.
"Would you like to help me with another case?" he asks.

(no problem lol, Corvus woudnt have done much asside from defeating rendom people)
The eight-bit ring tone from her old phone broke the silence of the deserted alley she was in, well maby not compleately deserted. She let go of the man she had been effortlessly dragging by the collar to pull out the encien device out of her pocket, reading the message she had receaved. Corvus wasnt woryed about her prey escaping, he had proprely been put to sleep after all, it would take a while for him to wake up from her powers and even then he would most likely not be able to explain what happen in coherent words, humans dosnt belive cats can be dangerous after all...
Seeing Adam thank him made her more happy then she would have expected, she rarely if ever receaved any praise. In a way it did encouraged her, maby she could fit in, maby there was a chance a Shadow of the old World would find a way to belong amongst humans. So many older Veil Walkers had told her it was impossible, humans were too complicated and there would alwais be a wall in the comunication between their two speacies. At the offer of a new case she fumbled with the little number pad to write a readeable response, even if it was only a few key words.
" Ok ! Where we see?"
It wasnt ideal but she hoped he would know she was asking to meet somwhere to talk about it. Picking up her prey once more she lifted him off the ground as she arived closer of the now well-known car of the Ramirez. When the woman wasnt looking she just tossed the man near her vehicul before vanishing back into the alleyway.

The car comes to life under Adam's hands, engine humming in the background as he speaks.
"Would the Walgreens on 2nd Street work?" he asks, waiting for the other's response before he shifts his car into drive. There's no telling if he'll have to give the supernatural different directions; the street system is a very human invention that holds little use for those that don't use the same facilities as them.
It's the least that he could do, given that Corvus is helping him out. Thinking this, Adam offers, "I can pick you up too, if you'd like." In the background, something buzzes, and Ramirez comes to life over the radio, grumbling about another Car-Vigilante victim and drawing a lazy snort out of the detective.
Imagine the police department getting showed up by a free-lancer, huh? Adam certainly doesn't mind, though he knows that some of the others have different opinions.

Hearing the police-lady complain on her strange radio, Corvus chirpped in amusement, the other woman alwais had amusing reactions to receaving preys. She jumpt a little when the old phone in her pocket made itself known once more, she not expecting it to have an answer that fast. Then again Adam had a newer phone those worked faster, unfortuately they also had more light power so it hurted her eyes to look at for long and she had no idea how to fix that.
Opening her device once more she gave a puzzled look at what was writen on it. How do you knew the street number ? She knew a few locations where Walgreens were but she never noticed those numbers, the names were confusing enough as is ! She was glad when the men offered to come to her instead, she was fast when she wanted to be but she doubted she could have find it by trial and error, at least not before tomorow morning.
"Yes pick up ! Still close to police-lady."
She didnt remembered the woman's name, just that it wasnt an average human name. For some raison it sounded similar to a word in the old world vernaculair, now if she could recal what it was, Reyam, Raitiray, somthing starting with a R...
