are we allowed to carve out characters from movies if we draw them on our own? i was thinking of doing a drawing of Jack and Sally (The Nightmare Before Christmas) and making a stencil of it for the pumpkin that's why i'm asking.
If you draw the trace, then that is fine.

Ooh~ Since Ive never carved anything and I have no skill at all, I might try something small first. Maybe an apple?

Hi Krin! I did have a question regarding this, is sculpting a pumpkin allowed in this contest? Something like just putting the design on the surface of the pumpkin but more engraved in, rather than cutting all the way through. Is that ok?

Yep! A lot of players in the past have done such a thing. I believe even the example we use in the announcement post is of that style.
