Unfortunately I have a mac, so I can't use SAI, and GIMP didn't work too well. I've recently acquired photoshop, though, so I'll be working on making better-looking lines now

I use Mac too XD Sai is great except for the no-pressure part (such a bummer) but happy to know that you got photoshop! Good luck!

Ah--SAI isn't actually free, it's just easy to pirate and widely available. I just wanna throw that out there so no one does something illegal on accident ;3;

I personally recommend FireAlpaca! It's free, it's light, and it's responsive! It's NOT very good for soft painterly styles, but it's what I use for pretty much everything I do! It also fully supports transparency. No filters, no custom brushes, no text, but that aside, it's straightforward, simple, and very effective at what it does.
