Are you checking your Account Notifications? I'm seeing it in the database:

I am not exactly sure where to access the account notifications. I have checked trades and social, but there are no messages anywhere that these transactions took place that I can find.

Ah. Just click the "Account" on the menu bar. You can view your Account Overview there.

Aha! I didn't know that was an option. I've just been waiting for one of those light up notifications telling me there is something worth my attention somewhere (like when you have trades available or a friend request). I see it now, thank you!

Yep, it should be working. Just go to http://www.sylestia.com/account/ (or click on "Account") to view your Account Notifications.
It should be sending you a notification if you buy or sell a pet of any type.
