Another day, another trash to take care off. Part of her knew she should have left the scene, melt into the crowd of nameless faces, it would have been easy to just mimic those simple actions after all but this was interesting, the decorations around the area, the flashing lights, the people in odd cloaths, it was captivating.
She watched quietly from the side ligne with the intencity of a predator stalking it's prey as a man entered the decorated piece of land to take a closer look at somthing on the ground, tho whatever it was didnt realy seem important from her vew point. There were much more efficient way to hunt someone then by their foots after all.
She must have strayed a bit too far from the crowd of curious as the man noticed her. "Ma'am, would you mind if I asked you a few questions?" Tilting her head a bit she first confirmed that he was speaking to her by looking around but once that doubt had been cleared she tensed a bit, leaving wasnt exactly possible now, was it ? With a slight nod she decided to play along, she had never been questioned out of the blue before. "Uh? Oh, yes... it's fine. About what ?"

The response is positive, and Adam lets himself smile in what he hopes is a reassuring manner. His pen and pad are left in his pocket to avoid scaring the witness, and he says, "I was wondering if you'd seen anything out of the ordinary while coming this way?" The footprints point towards the general direction, but he's not going to get into any could-be accusations just yet.
"Maybe anyone wearing dirty clothes or shoes? I'm not asking you to serve as an eyewitness, just a general lead if you have any ideas."
And then he catches the flash of a phone camera, drawing him several yards away where some bloodied evidence can be seen gleaming under white lights. "I'm gonna need everyone to back up," he commands, glancing at the large, green trashcan tucked behind a corner with a bloodied jacket wadded up in a torn Walmart bag.

The man showed her his teeths it what humans were calling a smile, she never understood why such a threat display was so common, let alone associated to somthing positive for that speacie but she replicated it in an effort to mimic normal body language.
"I was wondering if you'd seen anything out of the ordinary while coming this way?"
The question did made her pause, did she ? What exactly could be seen as out of the ordinary ? She did had a fairly busy night, catching a few petty criminals at their own game and the like. Even sent two of them to be collected by the larger car with flashing light after breaking some bones in retaliation to their attempt at catching her by surprise.
"Maybe anyone wearing dirty clothes or shoes? I'm not asking you to serve as an eyewitness, just a general lead if you have any ideas."
The following one didnt narrowed her mental search nearly as much as one would think tho as the wind turned a bit she did caugh the hint of a somwhat familiar sent. Someone earlyer she hadnt realy payed much mind too walking by. She had noted the smell of blood on them but hadn't been bothered by it, alot of people ended up with such a smell, just getting a papercut was enough for it to cling to skin for hours after all. "I... think so ? They didnt seam like they were looking tho, must have been personal... or unexperienced maby. They wern't painted tho..."
She was somwhat upset to see the light go away, she didnt realy understood them but it was still preaty to see. Glancing behind the guy, she watched the scene a bit more to try and figure out what was so special about this place. Was it because of the blood ? Did the flashing had an effect on it or somthing, why would people nead to leave ?

(I'm loving your commentary! Seeing the inside of Corvus's head and all of her confusion about police cars and smiles is amazing.)
The sirens throws red and blue across Adam's hair for a few seconds as he reaches down to his radio, sending a notification to the officers in the car. Then, the light turns off and one of the women is making her way over, ready to help him section off the area and herd the civilians away.
He reaches into his pockets and removes a pair of gloves before noticing that Corvus is lingering. "Thanks for your help miss," he says, even though her words hadn't much grammatical sense. "By painted, you mean red, correct?" If so, then there's not much to follow up on, but otherwise... well otherwise, it seems like they'll have caught their murderer red-handed.
Plastic gloves come on, and he walks the woman back towards the boundaries with a, "Come this way please, since we needed to expand our area of investigation."
His radio hisses to life now. "Heard that you found something outside, Adam?"

(Glad you liked it, i had a class on animal psychology a few years back, it's been a while since i found a way to use what i learned for anything so i decided to apply some the basis into how Corvus was build. Yes, i am a science neard somtime. XD)
As she looked around, another flashing light car came into the area making her a bit more puzzled about the whole scene, didnt they just asked to stop the lights ? Or maby it was a color thing, was there a code she didnt know about with light colors ? She had learned the one humans used to cross streets so was that to cross somthing too ? They didnt had self-made dimention tho so she realy didnt know what this was about. Her train of thoughs was derail when the woman had arrived, simply turning to a slight realisation, she had seen her before... Where ? ... Oh ! Wasn't she the one who picked up the broken bones guys earlyer ?
"By painted, you mean red, correct?"
She had almost though the man had moved on from his question, but it seem as if he had more for her. Corvus looked at him once more, trying to replicate general human demeanors again. She though she had been fairly clear in her explanation, was painted not the right word ? The one she had seen wasnt red, well, maby a bit, but mostly it's stripes were glowing purple ? Wait no, what was the name of those colors ? Ah, violet ! Well, somthing like that. She tryed again to explain it to him. "Well, maby a bit... Tho i never seen those lignes get that red before... ah, eh, i dont know how to explain, wait... you have the magic sight abitily right ? Maby it will be easyer to explain that way." She was fumbling with her words a bit, how to explain a color ? It was embarasing, hopefully it was just her forgetting the name of somthing and everyone can move on from that soon.
She followed the man as she kept thinking of how to explain somthing that simple. When humans felt high level of stress, fear or general negative emotion the strange paterns on their skins changed their glow, like if their was glowing paint splatter across their skin. Large amount of it togedther with the smell of blood usualy ment that human had been through somthing bad or had done somthing bad, usualy just looking where they were was enough to get an idea of witch is witch.
(Oh, and if you wondered, yea humans actualy have stripes that can usualy only be seen through uv light, though it was a cool fact to use ^-^)

Magic sight, his interviewee says, and Adam has never heard anything more blatantly supernatural in his life. Fine, he lets his colleagues make a few jokes about a detective believing in magic - the only thing worse would be a scientist - to get it out of their systems, but he's seen several signs that can't be explained as anything else. He's researched it, and while Adam wouldn't go so far as to cal himself an expert, he likes to think that he can at least tell when it's involved.
So he clicks on his radio, says, "Sure have. I'm looking into it, but I believe Madison will be able to tell you more if you call her," and lets the signal sputter out with a release of a button.
Of course, looking into it was a bit more paranormal than usual, but the others didn't need to know that.
"I don't have magic sight," he starts, once they've gotten far enough away from the crowd, "but I've heard of something similar before." Technically true, but only in the vaguest sense of the term. Still, there's several magical ways to produce information, so he prompts, "How does yours help you determine guilt or... whatever you sensed?"
There's no way that this will stand up as a solid testimony, but Adam can definitely start piecing together a case with an insider tip. Granted, there's no guarantee that the other is telling the truth, but detective can usually point out framing when he sees it. Information doesn't add up after all.
(I validate you, as someone who loves to come up with detailed applications of heat/electricity based powers. Also, I'm in shock? Humans have stripes ;0; I might have to borrow that sometime for a character, because that's a really fun way of explaining emotion-reading magic.)

The little device the man was using peak her attention for a bit, sure it wasnt all that odd to see an human use somthing similar but usualy there was less buttons involved and more sceen. It did reminded her of the musical devices the older ones would sometime use, it was called a radio or somthing like that, but this one could be speaking into ? Odd, maby she should try to get her hand on one to figure more about it...
At the mention that he didnt had the same type of sigh she gave him a somwhat puzzled look, she was sure it was fairly common, how else were they able to apply any type of advenced medecine without it ? Surely they didnt just get in complex procedure compleately blind. The realisation that, maby he had somthing wrong with his eyes did hit her afterward and the though saddened her, living without such an important sense must be quite difficult.
"How does yours help you determine guilt or... whatever you sensed?"
Trying to explain it a bit better she stopt focusing on her sight and went with what she belived was simple human logic. "Well, it's several things actualy... magic sight alone is not enough to garentee anything but add it to the whole situation and it can get preaty obvious i guess. You see... an human only get the painted look when under strong negative emotions. They wern't around a car crash or anything else that could trigger it, the only thing that is left is that they did somthing bad and were woryed about being caugh. Add to that the smell of blood and ... yea." She finished her explanation with a little shrug, trying to convey that everything was just a given.
She was kind of mad that she hadn't payed more attention to that human back then, tho people like that were a fairly comon sight in the shady places she liked to dwell. If one was becoming a problem then sure, she woudn't hesitate dealing with them, it wasnt like anyone would belive a criminal about their experience with her. Most of the time she would just re-ajuste her features into a twisted monstrosity or modify some of her parts to be more animal like so her victim would be 'scared straight'. It worked especialy well whenever one of them wasnt acting right for long period of times, turning normal for a few days and then start acting up again, those ones would react strongly to her too.
(Oh yea, that's honestly realy fun to mess with lol. And not only strips, they have full on paterns, tho most look like stripes. How those look depend on how the cells of their embrio have grown and developed. People with chimerism (basicly 2 set of dna in 1 body) somtime dont get the same skin tone for both of their gene sets, in those cases the paterns can actualy be visible to the naked eyes ^-^)

(Ooh, that's cool as well! I may have to sketch a new character for that, and figure out some more about chimerism to go along with it. That should be fun, especially since it seems like it can cause heterochromia too.)
Hm, so his source seems to rely more on observation than pure supernatural sense, though without scientific proof, Adam can't rely on the stripes that she's been observing. There's not enough proof for him to conclude that it's infallible, that the stripes don't glow in the case of strong emotions instead of just negative ones. Still, this is a brilliant place to start, so he thanks the woman.
This is scrawled into his notebook by quick movements of his pen, though any supernatural aspects have been filtered out of the information. Glowing patterns have been replaced by heavy breathing, a constant need to survey their surroundings, and of course that blood. Really, the latter is all he needs for a start, so he looks up and asks, "What did this person look like, if you don't mind me asking?"
A picture or direct session with a sketch artist would prove to be a much greater help, but it doesn't seem like Corvus is too skilled at concealing her nature. No, Adam can simply narrow down the pool with simple things like hair color, before using the rest of the evidence.
Juggling his pad and pen, he pulls out his phone and offers, "If you'd like something to compare the suspect to, I can find a few images as examples, and you can tell me when we find a similar build or face shape?"

(yep, sure does, if i remember well it's also one of if not the only way to get heterochromia without receaving an eye injuries.)
Just by looking at how his pen was moving on the paper she could tell that he hadn't made any mention of her magic sight, witch somwhat confused her yet again. Corvus had though that she had a decent grasp on humans so far but she was now starting to doubt it. Was she missing somthing ? Surely a civilisation that advenced was using magic, even at the lower range, how else would they have built their machines.
"What did this person look like, if you don't mind me asking?"
She though for a moment, to her humans all looked the same, well maby not but still. Was there anything realy all that different about them ? "Hmm, they had short pale hairs... oh and they were taller then you ! Other then that, let's see..." She kept on trying to bring the memory back without much success, tho if she was hunting it would be different, she would be able to pick up the sent by backtracking without nearly as much issues.
"If you'd like something to compare the suspect to, I can find a few images as examples, and you can tell me when we find a similar build or face shape?"
Hearing that offer she nodded and glanced at the device. "It may be a bit easyer, i should be able to reconise them if i see them. I rarely pay attention to people's features, just when necessary. Usualy all that blank noise goes straight to subconsious memories..."

Adam lets out a bark of laughter as the other describes the subject. "Just about everyone's taller than me," he says with a resigned shake of his head. He's, what, four inches below the average man? Short jokes and comments are something he's gotten used to. "I appreciate your help though. It should come in handy for narrowing down the suspect pool."
He clicks his phone open before flicking through his photos, eventually settling on one of the team clustered together in a send-off celebration. This should be easy enough for the others to visualize, at least. "How do we compare?" he asks. Most of them pack a bit of weight from their training, but they manage to have a pretty diverse roster nevertheless.
The mention of recognition leaves the detective thoughtful, and he inquires, "Do you mind if I contact you later, for more details?" Though he doesn't want to bring the woman in, he can still send images if he needs to. Granted, with the footprints he found at the site, their aggressor doesn't seem to be all that experienced. It's unlikely that they'll need too much more.
