I try to figure out some back stories, since the one-eyed cat had seemed like the other cat had a alliance or family.

Ok, so the one-eyed cat had said "You're kind always does!" This kind of sounds like the other cat belongs to a specific group of cats. Or if I misinterpreted it, then ignore that and I will just watch to see each of their fighting styles, and intervene only if a cat is about to receive serious injuries.
