It was a cool day in the Tashika Arena. The two opponents eyed each other. What would their first attacks be? They both didnt dare move. The Emperor rang the horn. The first opponent, the reigning champion, didnt even move. The challenger was confused, but he ran for him anyway. He leapt, ready to feel his claws sink into skin like others had many times, but the champion merely side-stepped and the challenger fell to the ground. He eventually got back up, but he was slightly out of it. The heavy blow on his head had cost him a lot. He ran towards the champion and zig-zagged. The champion merely rolled his eyes. He had seen this trick many times as the newbies tried to defeat him. He waited for the right moment and plunged his claws into the partly incorporeal body of the challenger. The crowd roared as the semifinals ended and the champion roared. It was time. The champion trotted over to the stables on the side of the arena and cooled himself down. He and his new opponent-to-be eyed each other dangerously. The time would soon come. For now, they needed to rest.

Cadmar was living the life. He battled for the fun of it, for the thrill. He had received personal invitations from the Emperor to join him at dinner, to hunt with him at night. Cadmar didnt fight for the money. For the name, for the title, for the reputation. Emperor Nirnasha was very fond of Cadmar, because he could put up a good fight and was always unpredictable. He wasnt fond of his family though. He had hid Cadmars family because he hated them so much. They did slave work on the other side of the island. Except that pesky Adira. She had escaped 100 years ago (which was only a year for Ryori) and had been plotting and hiding ever since. Not that Cadmar knew this. He had assigned a slave to take care of Cadmar, and when Cadmar asked him why he was a hugely different colour combination from her, he would simply tell him that he was adopted because his mother and father had abandoned him. He believed that, though.

Nirnasha had a daughter. She was born odd. She only had 10 trait points. All the oher high-ranking Ryori had 12. All visible. It must have been her pesky mother. Nirnasha didnt want anything to do with her anymore. Anyway, he had plenty of other wives and children. He wasnt even sure if she was descended from him, but if he kicked her out, word would get around that Nirnasha has thrown out his daughter. That was one of the most ancient rules in Tashika. Everyone lives to 42 days old (which would be 4,200 for us humans) and then they are kicked out. Then, when they went hunting, there were more eggs to eat. Sure, it was 2020, but it was an ancient rule, and many other tribes still followed it.

Nirnasha was determined to look as strong as the other leaders, even through his problems. He had to wear a mask because his fire-breath kept clogging up his airway and when he would battle, he would have random points when he couldnt breathe. He had to be fitted with a mask, and even though it did look cool, none of the other tribe emperors thought so. At least he was above Takara, who had no battling skills whatsoever and had lost so much territory to the other species. Even her husband, Bhasura, couldn't battle very well.

Chapter 2
Cadmar knew it was time. The reigning champion was very rarely beaten, with only the Takkaturra Twins taking him out. Identical Twins in the Tashika Empire were considered the same person, so they usually won battles too. After the first defeat, Cadmar had insisted a rematch and used the swing technique to take out both twins at the same time. Now, unfortunately, they wont go near Cadmar.

Cadmar hopped into the arena, full of self-esteem. He knew he was going to win the battle. Still, the crowd roared. He had done this many times. Fight without fighting. That was the only thing he remembered his foster father had told him. He could use this technique. It was only until he saw his opponent that he started to get scared. It was a Nyvene! And an enraged male, too! Cadmar couldnt fight this Nyvene without fighting! He would have to use his agility to his advantage, and the Nyvenes size and power against it. Nirnasha was looking rather scared, too. He didnt want to lose his pride fighter. Plus, Cadmar would go compete against the other tribes if he won! He would fight the top Aerdini, Ferrikki, Griffi, Lighra and Nephini. Apparently the Nyvenes had other problems. This Nyvene could be a problem.
