Prologue:
The Zolnixi lay on her bed, in considerable pain. All the healers in Sylestia had rushed to her side, but the queen was too far gone. She simply said,"Protect my daughter." Then she had fallen asleep, never to return to the land of the living. The king mourned, for many years, and then found the egg. Zolnixi eggs had to mature for years, so it seemed it had been in a cold cave for most of its life. The king vowed to protect his newfound daughter as long as he lived.
Chapter 1:
Rania smiled at the morning sun. It glowed bright over the horizon. Her father smiled at her. After 7 years of desperately waiting, his daughter had hatched. She was a beautiful Zolnixi, purple like the sunset, with paws like an angel. He glanced up at the sky. If only Talia was here to see her daughter he thought.

Chapter 2: Rania played in the snow, her tail beating against the drifts. She was jumping around when a Ny'Vene snuck out of a cave and snatched her. The king ordered a search, but they found nothing. As the king went into deep mourning, his daughter was still alive...

Chapter 2 Continued: In a dark cave, Rania awoke. A Ny'Vene was sitting there, his wings folded against his dark purple body. He grinned at her. She lunged at him, but an invisible wall of energy blocked her."Hey! Do you think I need any MORE reason to kill you?" he responded. He walked out of the cave, his wings flaring, and took off into the sky. Rania used this time to walk around her cell. It was hard stone on two sides, and glass on the other two. The ceiling was simply the sky. Now she understood. She was a Zolnixi, she could not fly out, so she was trapped. The Ny'Vene from before returned, this time with another Ny'Vene. The other Ny'Vene was black as night. He scowled at her as he landed."Why do you think she is so special Tyron?" he asked. The purple Ny'Vene,Tyron, replied," She is not like the others we picked up. She tried to attack me! All the other Zolnixis we abducted just lay in the corner, frightened out of their minds." The black Ny'Vene smirked,"We are quite frightening." Rania flew at the two Ny'Venes once again, her tail flicking angrily. The energy wall came up once again and the purple Ny'Vene flicked his tail towards her as if to say I told you so."Fine. The lab could use more to study anyway." he growled. He flew off into the air.

Chapter 3: Rania awoke in a large cave, lit up by only torches. A small Ryori, his face covered by a creepy mask, was pacing before her. What? The Ny'Venes and Ryoris are working together? Her mind was spinning. The Ryori noticed she was awake."Finally." he growled. He padded up to her and inspected her, his sharp eyes looking through the holes in the mask. She leaped at him, her paws flying towards him, until she was blocked by a Ny'Vene that jumped in front of the scientist. Leaping at him was like jumping at a wall of stone, and she fell to the ground."I told you she was feisty Lieper, I told you." The Ryori nodded."You did Tyron, you did." Tyron looked at her, and it was almost pity, but he quickly wiped the look off his face and helped the Ryori pin her to the wall with chains like she was a criminal. Rania flailed, but she couldn't move. The Ryori smiled cruelly under the mask.

Chapter 4:
Rania awoke in a new cave. It looked like her old one, but there were many Ryoris surrounding it and it was a bit larger than her old one. Tyron flew in, flapping his wings powerfully."Wondering why they are all examining you?" he asked. She nodded."They are figuring out if you are worth anything to us. The Ryori-Ny'Vene alliance. If you are, we will change you, we will make you more like us, and then we will run more tests and things like that." Rania opened her mouth to speak, but an iron muzzle was clamped around her mouth. She was finally scared, deep in the pit of her stomach...

Chapter 5: Rania awoke. She was hit by pangs of sadness as she leapt of into the air and flew and wait, what! I don't have wings! she thought. She looked down. Oh gods, she was a Ny'Vene. Tyron flew in."Do you like the purple? I requested it for you." She looked down. Her body was dark purple like his, with streaks of silver running down her body. Her wings were purple as well, flapping the air like they had a mind of their own. Tyron looked at her, she could see the kindness in his eyes. And then it hit her, he likes me. And she thought and I like him as well... Shaking these thoughts out of her head she took off from the cramped cave and stretched wings for the first time, she felt so perfect here, like it was her destiny all along...

Chapter 5 Continued: Tyron and Rania flew up, their wings stretching to feel the wind. Rania hissed at Tyron,"Why are you capturing Zolnixi's anyway? I take it I was the only one transformed." She flared her wings. Tyron smiled."The queen will explain everything to you. That is where we are going now."

Chapter 6: They landed beside a throne. A Ny'Vene was seated there, jewels embedded in her scales."Sssso nice to ssssee you my darlingsssss. I am glad you could make it. And Tyron my ssssssson, pleassssse try to polissssssh your sssssscalessss once in a while. Rania, I am glad you could join our armiessssss." She rose, saluting them both on their keen ability to blend into the dark, noting the black and purple design of Rania's scales. After her speech, they flew out to battle practice, as Rania had not used claws or sharpened fangs before.

Chapter 7- 5 Months Later: Rania folded her wings. She leaped out of her sleeping cave. Her muscles flexed and she soared out into the larger cave. Tyron flew by her, his wings brushing hers."The queen wants to see you." he said. He sounded happy, as if he was expecting to open a large gift box. Rania flew in, her wings brushing the cavern walls as she bowed low before the queen."Rania you have served usssssss well and will be very sssssssstrong in the takeover. I would like you to be the next queen and marry my sssssssson, Tyron." Rania's heart leaped into her throat. Being with Tyron, leading the Dark Kingdom, conquering Sylestia! This was her dream! She nodded and replied,"I would be delighted to Your Majesty." She flew out, a bundle of joy. She heard wingbeats and shouts of pain. Tyron flew up to her."The Zolnixi kingdom is invading!" Rania narrowed her eyes. No they were not. She spiraled towards the Zolnixis. "I am Rania!" she shrieked."And I will stop you from destroying my kingdom!" Her father looked up at the name."Rania..." he stuttered. Rania screamed a cry of vengeance and the Dark Armies attacked. She dove towards her father, her wicked talons outstretched. They nearly speared him, but he leaped away, her claws coming to a stop right before his feet. He ran, Zolnixies flanking him with spears. Rania caught her breath and breathed a plume of violet flame. The Zolnixies ran like the wind, but not before she ran her claws down one of their legs. She gestured to Lieper and he and his lab assistants dragged the Zolnixi away."I want to speak with that Zolnixi after he is...dealt with." she said. Tyron nodded."Did you say yes?" "Of course, I would love to rule the kingdom with you."she replied. Tyron looked away, but not before Rania saw him grin...
