Here are the 3 main characters:
Regal, a fierce, brave female Zolnixi who will eagerly defend her friends

Hidden, a sometimes arrogant male Zolnixi from a distant Silestian kingdom

Stardust, a strong female Zolnixi, best friends with Regal


Prologue-Flashback


It was dark out, but her heart was racing. There was something wrong tonight, she knew it. Something felt wrong, there was another presence. Yes. Someone was watching her. She folds her feathered wings carefully to her sides, tucking them in. She was a brilliant Zolnixi, with rich dark brown and black fur and forest green markings. Her pearl armor shone, reflecting the light of the pale moon above her. But she shivers.
The sound of approaching footsteps suddenly catches her attention, she jumps at the sound. But the footsteps are familiar, Regal? She calls out. Trust her best friend to always find her.
Another female Zolnixi steps out from behind a bush. Stardust! She says, but her voice was also hushed. She also senses something wrong. I found you, says Regal. The moon make the golden marks on her fur stand out sharply against her dark blue. Stardust can see that her white bags are stuffed with supplies. Regal rushes over to the green and brown Zolnixi and nudges her. Where were you going?
Regals eyes are large and wide. Stardust knows that her friend already knows the answer: she is running away. She is finally sick of her family treating her like a pet, she is a wild Sylesti, not some captured animal to abuse and torture. I have to go, says Stardust quietly, unfolding her feathered wings in case she has to make a quick take off. It pains her heart to have to do this to her best friend, but she cant live this life anymore.
Regal is about to reply but something moves in the patch of trees in front of them. A rustling sound. Stardust? Regal asks, her voice is tinged with fear. Shes a year younger than Stardust, who is 4.
I dont know what it is, replies Stardust. The hair on her back pricks up and her wings go rigid. Stardust is about to reply when an unearthly growl emanates from the patch of trees. A Ryori. We have to go, now, says Stardust, shoving Regal forward to get her to move.
But Regal stands frozen in fear. A Ryori is a creature of legend, a mythological monster. To meet one is to be doomed.
Regal! Shouts Stardust. Regal jerks to attention, but her movements are foggy and shes unsteady. A Ryori can create a fog that blurs Sylestis senses. That must be whats happening to Regal, Stardust thinks.
Then the Ryori emerges. Its a dark Ryori, almost completely black except for some dark blue spots and some bright white spots on it. It has Illusion wings that are shifting from visible to invisible. The Ryori smiles, his voice is dripping with malice and deceit, Well, what have we here? Two female Zolnixi? Arent I lucky!
This time Stardust sees the fog coming from the shifting smoke around the Ryoris body. She jumps away from it, pushing Regal along with her. The younger Zolnixi finally gains her senses back. Her gaze lands on the Ryori. Run! She yelps.
Regal takes off at a sprint, supplies tumbling from her packs. Stardust dashes after her, but the Ryori just laughs and suddenly the fog envelopes her, covering her and making her woozy and uncertain. Regal stops, Stardust? She asks, Stardust!
Stardust falls to the ground as the Ryori approaches and puts a claw on her neck, Youll be a pretty little servant after we break you. He pushes farther on Stardusts neck and a drop of blood oozes out, splashing onto the dirty ground and disappearing.
With her last amount of clearness, Stardust says, Run Regal, RUN!
The blue Zolnixi runs off with the Ryori laughing behind her and calling, How will you live with the guilt?
But the young Zolnixi is too panicked. She runs as fast as possible, desperately wishing she had wings, until she arrives home, panting.
Her parents arrive at the door, worried. What happened Regal? They ask, Wheres Stardust?
Regal pants and sobs, choking on her words. A-a Ryori, c-caught Stardust. Shes gone! Its all m-my fault! She buries her head in her mothers neck, sobbing. Her mother hugs her, wrapping bright pink feathered wings around her daughter.

Stardust wakes up in a freezing, iron cell, shivering and shuddering. She rubs her neck, its still sore. She doesnt remember anything after she told Regal to run, just the Ryori laughing and then slamming her head with something hard. She puts a careful paw on her head and then looks at it, her paw is red with blood. She winces and gets to her feet.
The iron door opens and the Ryori enters. He smiles coldly, Ah, youre awake. Now, pretty, whats your name?
Stardust doesnt see any reason to not tell the Ryori so she says, Stardust.
Beautiful name, except, he looks at her for a moment, Awful colors, pretty. That green is out of place. I think some nice shades of purple would look a little better? He looks in disgust at her wings, And well fix those awful things later.
Even in her weak state, Stardust wants to defend herself. She throws herself against the Ryori hopelessly. The Ryori laughs and says, Feisty, eh? Well fix that too. He whacks her across the chest with his sharp tail, making a long red slash. Then he slams her against the iron wall. She hits the wall hard and blacks out for a moment.
When she returns to her senses a few minutes later, the Ryori is pulling her painfully to her feet. He pulls out a whip, Just to teach you a lesson. Lessons are good. He whips Stardust across her back, the sharp wire digging into her skin and tearing her feathers. Stardust falls to the ground with a gasp of pain.
On your feet! Orders the RTo yori, he puts the whip away and grabs her with his tail. Small tendrils of the fog snake out from his smoke and wrap around her, making her senses blur.
The Ryori shoves her out of the door and into a long hallway. Other Ryori are walking about, some carrying various torture weapons or dragging other prisoners. The hall is dark and gloomy. Stardust numbly follows the Ryori down the hall and into a room. The Ryori then shoves her into the room and something hard descends upon her. She gasps as sharp needles prick her fur and inject a clear liquid that smells of dye.
I hope you like purple, snarls the Ryori, he presses a button.
A large mask is put on Stardusts face and theres a flash of pain. Darkness.

Chapter One
4 years later.


I'm walking through the forest, disgusted by all of the fallen trees and trampled plants. Just three months ago, a large group of Ryori came through here and destroyed the place. Before that, a Ryori was something of myth. Now they've risen to a powerful and much feared Sylesti.
My parents want me to find food. Its summer and I'm already roasting, I packed little supplies in my Steampunk bags. And I'm glad, they already feel like they're full of rocks.
As I'm searching through the forest, the gleam of something catching the sunlight grabs my attention. I walk over to it and sniff it. With a shock I realize it's a pearl from someone's Pearl Armor. The pearl is glossy shade of purple and there's something dark about it that doesn't seem quite right. I've never heard of a Ryori wearing Pearl Armor. I know some other Sylesti wear it, but it's most commonly worn on Zolnixi. And there's a sort of faint but familiar scent on it.
Forgetting about food, I turn and start to head back home, eager to question my parents. As I'm walking I hear a low growl come from somewhere I can't pinpoint. I panic. Memories from four years ago flood my mind. Suddenly I'm there again, cowering next to Stardust. Suddenly I'm there again as a Ryori comes out of the bushes. I stand, frozen in terror while fog wraps around me and Stardust screams to run. Then the fog clears and I'm running and Stardust is captured and I'm leaving her behind.
Now she's dead.
I shake myself, barely able to keep my knees from giving way. This time is gonna be different, I think fiercely, regaining my strength and balance. A month after Stardust was abducted, I forced my self to train in self defense and fighting. Now I'm not as weak.
I growl back, flashing my teeth.
"Ah, you're stronger than you look, aren't you?"
That's not a Ryori voice. That's a Zolnixi voice. A male Zolnixi at that. I feel furious that a male Zolnixi just did that to me. Who are you? I growl, bracing myself for a fight.
A laugh. Where I come from Sylestians would recognize me just from the sound of my voice. I like it here, nobody to boss me around. Such a shame you guys ruined your forest like his, though. It seems like it would've been a good forest.
Wherever he came from must be far away for him to not have heard about the Ryori attack. I think. Well, I guess where you come from Sylestians aren't very smart. And apparently you're quite cowardly too, hiding behind trees like that. I smile, it's fun to provoke Sylestians.
I hear a frustrated growl. Then I have to stifle a gasp. The Zolnixi that steps out cant be more than a year or two older than me, and hes handsome. He has the highest amount of traits possible, which means he must be someone important. His colors are white on the top which is outlined by a thick black color that fills in his entire stomach and back of his legs. The rest is a pale red. He has glowlight wings that are pale red and white and he has talismans hanging from his neck and tail. I admire the beautiful, red digital runes on his body.
Apparently, he says mockingly, The Sylestians around here don't recognize royalty when they see it! He puts out his chest and raises his head high, the image of royalty. Hes probably from the Mechanic Kingdoms, thats why he has digital runes and his base colors are red and white.
How arrogant, I think. I say, Well, heir of the Mechanic Kingdoms, assuming he is the heir, I dont have time for your stuck-up, arrogant, royalty. I have more important work to do.
With that, I hurry off, triumphant when I hear his in dignified gasp. Minutes later I'm back at my house and Im banging on the door calling, Mom! Dad! I'm home!
My dad comes out, hes a completely gray Zolnixi, his father was a gray Vulnyx and Vulnyx colors are stronger than Zolnixi colors. Wheres the food? He asks disapprovingly after examining me for a minute or so.
I lower my head, Sorry, I say, Ill go right back out and hunt some down, but I don't feel like mentioning Prince Snob, so I hold out the purple pearl. I found this. Doesn't it smell familiar? Do Ryori wear Pearl Armor?
My dad snatches the pearl right out of my grasp. What was that for? I demand.
Instead of answering me, he calls out, Honey, come here. A minute later my mother appears at the door. He holds the pearl out to her and the two exchange a worried look. My dad looks back at me, Regal, he says, I think you should go back out and keep hunting. Okay?
I'm confused. I do what I'm told, though, Okay.
I walk back into the woods, and I keep walking until I'm deep in the woods, looking for the best prey of the forest.
And I run right into Prince Snob.

I'm not going to continue this thread as I don't think it's really liked and I don't know what to add :P

Oh no! I love this thread! Check out my thread, The Fallen, for some ideas because my main character is in the same situation as the Zolnixi with the Ryori's. Except for her its with Ny'Venes.

I don't mean to be rude, but I thought I'd suggest that you don't say things like says and runs, etc. It might sound smoother if it was past-tense, like said and ran. Usually, things like says and runs is used in a play script to tell the actor what to do.

Also putting quotation marks around the dialog?

Just my critisiscim of course, keep doing your thing... ^^'

Lost, sorry about the tense it's in, I like to write books and some of the books I write are in present tense (as are some of the books I read), I'll work on it. As for the dialogue, I tried about three or four times to add the quotation marks around the dialogue but it won't take so I can't, sorry.
