Hi! This will be my Sylestia story about the Sylvorpa that I had to mandatorily catch for Jinxie's quest. It will follow Sylestia's main storyline while adding a few twists here and there, along with different times. I'll try to be updating at least one chapter every day. Hope you enjoy The Life of Lorn!

Prologue
I'm dreaming. I'm dreaming of swimming with the wind in turbulent waters, laughing. I'm dreaming of the wind whispering my time has come, but for what?
And then I'm not dreaming, I jolt awake to a net that sends shocks up my spine and then-
Darkness.

Chapter 1
I groan as I wake up on a bed of straw, in a wooden box with one opening in front of me. Where am I? Then I remember what happened. I had been captured, taken from my sleeping spot by what I assume is a human. I peek outside to find myself right, for a human and one of my kin are talking to one another in low whispers. My kin notices that I'm awake and nudges the human. They both speak in a strange tongue to me. I wonder, is this Common? The language that humans speak? No matter, I need to get out of here.
"My kin," I plead, "Please tell this human to set me free!" My kin blinks in surprise before saying something excitedly towards the human. They both stare at each other in shock before she speaks to me haltingly.
"I...I apologize, I didnt know I could speak or understand your language," she says in a gruff accent. Now its my turn to stare. How could she not know our language? I snap out of it when a Goddess child enters the premise. They speak to each other about something while I look on, checking myself. My skin feels parched; I need to be in the water soon.
"My kin, please, give me water," I say. She nods in understanding.
Theres a pond in my stall, which is next to yours, she explains, jerking her head towards the direction its in. I hesitantly go out of the stall and look around, perking up at the corridor opposite of the others. An exit! I ignore the startled cries as I run towards the exit, only to be stopped by the Goddess child.
"You can't leave yet!" she chirps in my language.
"Please move, Goddess child, I want to be free," I say, trying to find an opening. She kept moving to block me.
"You can't, you did get captured by Sameri here after all." Her eyes soften, which doesnt soothe me at all. "Don't worry, you'll come to love it here!" My kin starts speaking to the Goddess child about something, causing a bit of an argument between the three of them. What they are saying, I don't know. But I need to get out of this place, I was sure of that.
"Can't you stay a while?" the Goddess child asks, "These two need help finding a troll that destroyed Esior's Haven. It might be dangerous if its just the three of us. So please?"
"Why would you want a stranger like me to help?" I counter.
"Because," she answers, "The more the merrier!" I could only groan as I shake my head as if shaking water off of me.
"Sameri wants to set you free, she really does," my kin says, "But Jinxie wants you to help us first."
"Sameri? Jinxie?" My kin points to each of them and introduces them before introducing herself as Amaris. Sameri, the human, says something that makes my kin nod.
"She'll set you free once we find the troll responsible, promise." I hesitate for a moment before sighing.
"Fine. And then you'll set me free."
"Yes." Another sigh.
"Alright then, where's the pond?" Amaris leads me to her stall and shows me the pond.
"By the way, what's your name?" she asks.
"Lorn." And then I dive in and dont get out.

Chapter 2
Sameri and Amaris are kind to me while I stay with them. I don't mind it, but the sooner I get out of here, the better. I'm still in the pond while they prepare their journey to Trollsblight Caverns. And I don't plan on getting out anytime soon. The human lays out a meal of watercress before me. I blink in surprise. How did she know it was my favorite?
Apparently it is my kin's favorite too and its just habit. My light green eyes meet with her slightly jealous forest green eyes. I offer her some with a green hand, figuring that she was used to human interactions like this. At least, I think so. She accepts it and chews on some of the greens happily.
I begin to study her appearance while eating my food. We appear to be the same age, though she seems to be slightly older. Blue skin and purple swirls that are akin to my muddy ones, forest green eyes, light blue fur Ive never seen anything like it, this fur. Where is she from to have such a thing? The far north? The far south? I dont know.
"Where exactly are we?" I ask.
"You're in Heartvale, which is a few miles from Esior's Haven in Viridian Meadows," she explains. I just stare at her, not knowing the terms.
"Are those what the humans call them?"
"Er, yes?"
"Ah." I pause. "Where exactly are you from?" She shrugs; it must be a human gesture.
"I don't know, Sameri found me by the riverside one day, unable to remember a thing except my name." She frowns. "I'm starting to remember bits and pieces, but..."
"Ah..." I feel guilty now, for asking such a touchy subject. "And what is your human like?"
"She's a bit of an oddball, a little slow, but she has a good heart."
"I see." I stiffen and growl when I notice the human walk in, carrying an egg that smelled not human.
"What's wrong?"
"You're human stole that egg, didn't she?" I ask. Amaris shakes her head.
"No, we found it abandoned by the windmill. We didn't steal it at all." She translates what I just said to the curious Sameri, who makes an odd noise and shakes her head. I have my doubts, she probably- no, they probably stole that egg from someone.
"Amaris! Lorn! Were ready!" I pause and cock my head to the side. Is that what my name sounds like, in Common? What did she say?
"We better go, its about time we investigate that cavern." I nod and quickly finish the last of the watercress as we set off for Trollsblight Caverns.
