During the Zolnixi War, there were 4 Zolnixi Tribes at war. Tundra, Flame, Earthbound, and Storm. The Tundra tribe allied with the Earthbound tribe, while the Flame tribe allied with the Storm tribe. The Tundra tribe was known for their Ice cold habitats. The Flame tribe was known for their sheer strength. The Earthbound tribe was known for their strong connections to nature, and the Storm tribe was known for their ability to control the weather. The tribes fought for superiority and treasure, no matter how many that died.

Snowflake



Snowflake stared blankly at the scroll in front of her. She wasnt even studying. She was too occupied by her inner thoughts. Why was I chosen to have this power? Why me? I never asked to have deadly orbs! You couldve given it to Solsticeor even Peak! Even though she is younger than me, she is more stable with her powers. Snowflake! Snowflake jumped. Uhuh, yeah? She stammered. Permafrost wants us to meet at the Great Glacier! yelled Solstice from the hall. Solstice was her brother, the one Zolnixi she was always jealous of.


He had the perfect coat, the perfect voice, and was their mothers favourite. Uh, ok! She mumbled. She walked through the hall, past the several study rooms, past the ice beds, past the dining room, to the giant Great Glacier. As usual, Solstice was there before her. She walked up the carefully carved stairs of ice to the top. Solstice, Snowflake, have you been studying? asked Permafrost. This wasnt the question she had been expecting, but she had learned not to hope too much, as these casual questions usually turned into serious missions and requests. Permafrost was their mother, or the Queen of the Tundra Zolnixis.


Of course mother! Solstice declared confidently. Permafrost turned to look at Snowflake. What about you? The truth was, Snowflake didnt remember a single thing from the scrolls. Should she tell her that she wasnt studying? What if Permafrost asked her to recite something? Snowflake? asked her mother in a concerned tone. UhI guess? responded Snowflake. Snowflake, you should know better. You are the Princess of Tundra Zolnixis, not a hatchling. Be like your brother, youre about the same age as him! Well, mother, maybe I just have bad mem-actuallyumI think theumscrolls areumtoocomplicated? This was like the fifth time Snowflake had used this excuse. The actual reason Snowflake didnt know anything was because she was too busy worrying about her powers. She knew that every Zolnixi had a power, but she just felt overwhelmed. Solstice could shoot frozen feather darts, Permafrost could create patches of permafrost, and she could harness the power of the environment and store them inside the orbs around her. She was afraid that she would accidentally hurt someone, so she tried to stay away from everyone. SNOWFLAKE! scolded Permafrost. Ive lowered your reading level so many times, your almost to your sisters reading level! Oh yeah. Peak. Her younger sister.


She still didnt know what power Peak had, since she wasnt 7 yet. When she was seven, she would be an adolescent, and they would discover her power. Permafrost sighed and flickered her butterfly wings. Snowflake, began Permafrost. I know youve been trying hard to study harder, but please, try even harder. One day, you will inherit my throne. That thought made Snowflake shudder. An unstable Zolnixi as Queen? A Zolnixi that was at a hatchlings reading level? Anyways, I want you guys to recite the story of the Umbra Forest. No. Her greatest fear: Reciting something she didnt even memorize. In front of all the Tundra Zolnixis. NOOO! The last thing she wanted to do was have every Tundra Zolnixi she the princess fail. She had to find another way. Mother, is there anything else I can do? Snowflake asked. Permafrost turned around and looked at the Quest Board. I suppose Yes! You could go send a message to Queen Aspen. Queen Aspen was the Earthbound Zolnixi Queen.


Okay mother, Ill go now. Snowflake said. She waved shyly to some Tundra Zolnixi hatchlings and ran out the gate. For once! I get to be alone! After what seemed like hours, she neared Queen Aspens territory, a lush rainforest. Then, as sudden as a flash flood, something brown came out of a bush and darted to another. Im not alone. Maybe its an Earthbound Zolnixi! Umhi? Permafrost had taught her how to greet someone, but this wasnt exactly what she practiced for. She heard rustling of leaves and stepping on mud. Then, she accidentally fired one of her power orbs! No! I cant control it! I dont want to hurt anyone! A Zolnixi fell out of the bush and lay on the ground, struggling. It was an Earthbound Zolnixi.

"Hey!" June tried to sit up, her eyes flashing furiously. "What was that for?" She unsheathed her claws and tensed her muscles as she looked at Snowflake. She was a Tundra, Earthbound's ally in the war so she could have been sent to stop escaped prisoners. "Are you trying to catch me?" She asked nervously.

Snowflake felt guilty. She had just accidentally used her power on an innocent Earthbound, their ally! The Earthbound looked filthy and stained, as if it hadnt washed in weeks. "Im sorry! I cant control my powers!" Snowflake apologized. "Wait, trying to catch you? Do you meant that you are a prisoner? " She whispered.

"Was a prisoner, actually." June corrected. "They, eh, let me go. Anyway, I'll be going now." Her eyes glowed suddenly. "You've forgotten you even spoke to me." She said in a strange, soft voice.

What happened? My mind feels fuzzy. Suddenly, dark clouds rolled in and lightning striked a nearby tree, illuminating her surroundings. What?! Wait- it must be the Storm Zolnixis! I must warn mother! It started raining hard and Snowflake could barely move through the rain. Another bolt struck and she saw two Zolnixis fighting. A Storm Zolnixi and an Earthbound Zolnixi.

The Earthbound Zolnixi looked quite familiar, but she just couldnt remember anything. Earthbounds were their allies, so without a second thought, she fired one of her orbs at the Storm Zolnixi. The Storm Zolnixi fell but got up in a flash, slashing her with his sharp claws. Ugh! I cant fight him alone! I need the Earthbounds help!

Sprite leaps on top of June, his claws digging into her back. "Traitor!" He snarls in her ear, before turning to face Snowflake. June limps to her feet, carefully keeping the weight of her paw. 'I don't owe you anything l. I don't owe you anything.' she repeats in her head, trying to ignore the sound of fighting but it is impossible. With a hiss of annoyance, she races back into the clearing.

"Get lost!" She yowls at Sprite, swinging a paw at his spine. He growls but June takes her claws down his spine again, forcing him to retreat. "And don't come back!" She shouts after his disappearing tail.

Snowflake stood up and scanned herself for any injuries her mother might scold her for. Just some scratches and cuts, nothing major. Then she remembered the Earthbound beside her. The Earthbound had deep claw marks in her back and some bruises. She is far more injured than I am. Probably took most of the attacks. I should bring her to the Tundra Kingdom or the Earthbound Village. Still, the Earthbound was somehow familiar in a way she couldnt quite get. Who are you? Can I bring you to the Tundra Kingdom or the Earthbound Village? You look pretty beaten up, Snowflake said.

"Eh, no thanks, I'm good." June replied, sitting down to lick her wounds. "What are you doing out here?" She asked between licks.

"Well," Snowflake started, "Im here to send a message to Queen Aspen." She sat down and embraced the beautiful weather, now that the storm had passed. She watched as the dark clouds drifted away and revealed white, puffy clouds on a sky blue backdrop. "Im Snowflake, what is your name? And what are you doing here?"
