It's been so long I forgot I even had an art thread. So long my images broke and my thread locked! But I'm back now. I took a long break from Sylestia and art; I didn't really do anything creative again (actually, I painted a lot of clothes for a dress up site, but that was literally it) until last year. But what a last year! I decided to actually buckle down and practice; between college and work (I'm old) I don't have a ton of free time, but I feel like I've really improved.



Portrait practice and progress over six months.




And landscape progress over fourish months! I'm most pleased with the portraits I've done; I actually stopped drawing for a long time because I did a self-portrait so bad I just straight up quit for a bit. It was more of a roast of myself than a self-portrait. Really awful, and at the time I didn't understand that being currently bad just meant I needed to work on it until it improved. But now I do; wish I hadn't wasted so much time not doing anything artwise, but c'est la vie.

Anyway, that's my word vomit for the day!

Oh! And I've done some dog portraits that I enjoyed: These ones are from probably...August? Maybe. Sometime around then.





The first dog is Teako; he sadly passed and it was a gift. The second one is my very own pups; I'm going to repaint him soon probably. He's a grumpy old man but I love him so much. He'll be 14 in just a few days. Makes my heart hurt to think about how old he's getting, but that's the tragedy of human and dog lifespans.

I'm back with a piece I painted for Valentine's Day, and I am frankly very excited about it! I need to improve my anatomy, but I'm very pleased with the result in spite of the flaws.

I've been doing some commissions lately, so my commission thread is more active than this one, but I thought I'd update with what I've been doing!

I've done some commissions for Unstaeble's characters, Dimitrias and Evangalynne, who were super fun to work on:




I've also got some WIPs that I haven't been able to finish yet, cuz college, work, life, and being ill, but I'm excited to work on them again as soon as I get the chance.

And my own character (Idunn Ice-Eye) from Elder Scrolls Online, a Nord warden with a big ol' bear! I'm most excited to finish this one, but it's been a bit of a bear, pardon the pun.



So that's what I have been and am currently doing! I can't wait to check back in with some more finished pieces. :)

Personally, I'm very happy with this piece. I tried some new things, some worked, some didn't, but overall, I had a blast with this and I'm excited to do more mushroom girls in the future! Maybe Lion's Mane or Bleeding Tooth up next? There are a lot of cool mushrooms to use for this concept.
