Kerrin huddled under the giant bush, waiting out the storm before continuing his travels. Cold, miserable, and ravenous, he thought longingly back to his days in the Summer Sea with his hatch-mates. But those days were long gone now, for as each sylvorpa grew to adolescence, they lost their purely aquatic life, gaining an amphibious one and a powerful wanderlust that propelled them from their safe waters into a brilliant, unknown World. Kerrin had reached his adolescence one moon cycle ago and had been wandering in this forest ever since. He had eaten things that he didn't even know the name of, emerged victorious from battles against vorkids and myconids, shared warmth and tales of childhood pastimes with bulboris and faelora... and spent the night under more leaves than he could shake his shells at. And yet his wanderlust still drove him onward into the dark woods.

Did he regret his lot in life? No, though at times like this, he would certainly his lot to be a warm bed and fresh fish. Kerrin hunkered down lower under the leaf as lightning flashed across the sky. He would find something to eat once the storm had passed. He could be patient.

"Oh, gosh darn it!" He heard a voice cry out as something heavily rolled into his side. "Curse you to Hell, you darn vorkids!" Over the thunder, Kerrin heard the skittering of a vorkid hoard. The spines along his back rose and he raised himself to his full height, ready to face them.

I went for a more tropical look for this guy. I named him Starburst, because his colors make me think of the candy ^.^
