Orion blushed again, startled by her compliment. "Thank you, but I really don't know about that. I know this may sound insensitive, but I'm really glad I saw you crying too." He smiled at her, but it was one of his small smiles. "You know, talk about hiding your feelings. Stop hiding behind your hair," he said, in a slightly teasing tone.

"Wait, are you two different kinds of monsters or something?" asked Ember. She realized that it probably sounded rude and stammered, "Y-You don't have to answer that," I hope she doesn't think I'm pestering. She pulled her hair back behind her shoulders, and began to rub the cover of her book, thinking about what she should say and not say to A'ine.

"Oh yeah, like I should believe that your hair just magically covers your face whenever you blush," said Orion, shoving her back lightly. He was glad he had made a friend on the first day of school. I wonder why she hides her face. Is it just because she's embarrassed, or it something else? He widened his smile in return to hers.


"What's wrong with pink and purple?" asked Ember, giggling. "And yeah, I read all kinds of books. In fact, I was thinking of visiting the school library later today." She smiled at the thought and then looked up suddenly. "Hey! I mean, do you want to come? That is if you like to read.." She says. Why do I have to be so shy?

Jora wasn't exactly prepared for when Orion shoved back, she almost fell out of her chair but caught herself. I hope Orion didn't see that! "Yes it is quite convenient I must say." suddenly out of nowhere her flashbacks start back up and she remembers her first conversion with a boy, Oh I know why you're blushing so much. It must be awful to have that thing for a face, Mutt!, and then the time when a mother of a very popular girl said, Oh, you poor thing. Why ever would you blush, it was your father's fault for having you. He should be the one blushing. Jora's smile is instantly gone and her eyes stop focusing on Orion and begin to refill with tears she turns away from Orion and wipes her eyes. Then clutches her ears as another wave of flash backs come. She pulls her feet onto the seat beside her and puts her face in her skirt still clutching her ears. Go away! Oh, why won't they leave me alone!

A'ine laughed "My big brother is kind of a really wimpy guy. He doesn't like pink or purple." She decided to tell Ember a little more on the subject, "He actually liked them at one point but then all the other kids picked on him. Now he doesn't like them..... the feathers that is." A'ine smiled at the offer "I'd love to! I'd need to tell A'eda'n first though." She hears someone scream 'Go away!' She looks around for the source and notices a girl balled up on the other side of the room. She sees a guy looking at her. She'll be alright and if she's not I'll go over there.

Alderic smiled, "I think so. Well, I think your 'distraction' has you transfixed." Alderic's smile turned cunning "I dare you to go over and ask her if she is." Alderic couldn't wait for him to choose, instead he pulled him out of his chair and pushed him over to where the girl is.

Kaya laughed, "Yeah I know what you mean. I caught my father sleeping at a couple of mine." She remembered how her mother reacted to that when she found out. "Yeah changing subject. What do you like to fight with? I prefer my special hooks on chains." She chuckles "I'm sorry, Azura, I was thinking like my sister."

Ilandere looked at Keegan in shock, thinking back to her first real home. Hoping this didn't count as talking about the past she said, "My father taught me how to play poker when I was younger, with great displeasure of my mother. What kind do you like to play? I myself prefer river." She suddenly realized that she said something before about not knowing who she is and where she from. He'll probably be confused... maybe I should say something... or maybe I should wait and see if he says anything about it Her face scrunched up a little as she thought about it and decided to wait and see if Keegan says anything. Alexander chuckled a little, "If you know, then why even do you look so, let me remember the word..... frustrated?" Alexander was started to get a little upset with Duskrade, which Alexander was surprised at that fact. For he was usually quite calm no matter what is said or done.

Kala looked up at Von hoping the headmaster would say something else to prevent her from having to say anything. Nothing came Oh well. "I guess it's kind of the way my father raised me. Mainly because I find it hard to talk to anyone." She secretly hoped Von would drop the subject..... and remember the question she asked.

"What, you think that just because I don't want to tell a total stranger about things that happened that I don't value my past?" Keegan asked angrily, ticked off that Ilandere just kept pushing. He tried desperately to block the images out of his mind, pleading with himself to stay calm, but it was beginning to get too much. "What would you even know anyway, you don't even know who you are!" he said harshly, knowing he was letting his emotions get the better of him and feeling helpless to stop himself. He knew he was taking things too far but he was in a bad mindset now. He was torn between feeling bad for being so rude and not even caring like usual.

"Ohh... well that's a good way to think about things," Eniko replied to Lily, happy that she was capable of being happy after bad things had happened to her. Maybe she should take up that attitude too. "I was really scared about coming here," Eniko admitted nervously, gazing around at all of the foreign people. "But I'm glad that I made a friend," she said to Lily, smiling.

"Haha juice is the best," Tadi said, nodding in agreement with Asher. He continued searching the crowds as he stated "Oh... I'm looking for my sister," letting his eyes wonder around the room again. "I'm sure she's lurking around here somewhere," he added.

When Jora buried her face in her skirt, and screamed Orion stood up and walked around her so he could see her face. He grabbed her wrists and gently pulled her hands off her ears. "Hey, it's okay. No one here's going to hurt you," he said, hoping he was being comforting and not awkward. "I'm the only one here," he said, still gripping her wrists lightly. I hope this isn't awkward for her. He wondered what had upset her so much. Was it the same thing as last time?

"I don't see why he should let other people define them." She lowers her voice and says, "Even if I let people define me. I'm giving advice I don't listen to." She laughed dryly. She hugs her book and looks at the floor, wishing she could follow her own advice.

Jora heard a soft voice break through all the others. While all the others were harsh, this one was kind. She tried to figure out what it was saying and whose voice it was. She felt someone uncover her ears and hold her wrists lightly. And again she hears the kindness in the voice as it says something else. The confusing part was it wasn't her mother's or her father's voice. She thinks for a moment, It's Orion's! She remembers she's at the school and not home. None of these other voices in her head are here she opens her eyes and looks up, all the abusive voice becoming nothing but whispers. She wipes her eyes with her sleeve and tries to smile at Orion, it's a little bit more like a nice grimace. "Sorry about that." She says turning to put her feet back on the ground. She gently pulls her hands back and puts them on her lap, trying to keep her emotions at bay. She turns her head to the front of the room and takes a deep breath as her hands start shaking. She quietly hopes Orion won't notice. Her hair falls over her face. She lets out a deep breath and notices the small amount of smoke released with it. Good, it's gone. I hope Orion didn't see the smoke. She waits for Orion to ask her what happened and braces herself to explain it to him. She had to have one friend who would know it.

A'ine shrugged, "Somethings people say to us to belittle us, are actually because they're jealous. My brother didn't realize that and wouldn't listen to me afterward. He still won't listen to me." A'ine smiled as she remembered the faces of those same guys.... after she wiped them. "Did you know, sometimes the little sister has to protect the big brother? That was how it happened a lot when we were younger." A'ine looked back at the girl she looked a little better now. At least she was sitting up.

Alderic was expecting a glare sooner or later from Corwin, everyone glares at him once. He stepped out from behind him and look at the girl, trying to help Corwin he said "Hiya girls! My name's Alderic, and, if you don't know this guy's Corwin. What're your names?" He was really starting to feel a little bad for dragging Corwin over. Oh well. He'll eventually forgive me, but it looked like he wanted to talk to this girl real bad. Yeah he'll forgive me after all this.

Stheno noticed Alexander's eyebrow twitch, Oh my goodness! I've never seen him angry. Stheno slithered in between Duskrade and Alexander saying, "Well, Duskrade, I hear you have at least one child who you don't have to worry about being loud. You have a girl who is mute." Hoping that would cheer him up a little and stop a fight on the first day of school.... between the teachers.

Kala was getting angry again, she didn't believe it. Twice in one day when she never got mad before. She said almost yelling over everyone else "I was wondering if you liked music?" Her voice sounded hoarse from never using it that loudly before. She realized that a ton of people must be looking at her, for yelling so loudly. She blushed a deep red and shrunk down behind Von a little.

Ilandere sat up straighter, which was almost impossible, see as she always stood up her straightest. "I did. My life before I was ten is very...... unclear to me." She said trying to find the right word she continued, "However, after that it's almost always as clear as the lake next to this castle. When I was 11, I was sleeping in a field, the owner of it found me and took me in as his own child, for he and his wife never had children. The wife was not exactly as happy as the man but at his insistence she allowed me to call her Mother. A few months before I got my.... I guess there is no other way to say it, scar, my father went of to help the other villagers with a rather large..... pest problem. He was killed during it. My mother, once she found out about what I am, hated me for not going with him. If I were there he might still be alive." She took in a deep breath not showing any other signs of emotion she decided to finish, "After that I left and flew for a night and a day. when I landed this happened." She said moving her hair again reveling the scar. She sighed, "Now you know what has brought me to this day." She hoped Keegan wouldn't ask anything else about that time of her life although she showed no emotion she was hurting deep inside.

Orion looks at Jora worriedly. He sits back on the chair next to her. "Does that happen often?" he asks, surprising himself. He had meant to ask what happened, but he ended up changing the question. He looks at Jora, wondering what had happened and if he could do anything to help. I hope I didn't stir up more bad memories by asking that.


Ember sighed. "You seem to have done a good job protecting him. And maybe he will learn here. Maybe I will too." Ember looked up at A'ine. "Personally, I like purple and pink."

Jora was surprised Orion hadn't asked what had happened, she nodded to answer the question he had asked instead. "But usually not that strongly." By usually she meant never, she couldn't recall even once were it was so bad she forgot where she was. She was really glad that she met Orion now, he was the first to ever see that happen to her besides her parents. She felt herself relax a little, she didn't realize that as she relaxed her head had somehow gotten on Orion shoulder.

A'ine felt really proud of herself at Ember's commit. "Thank you, I think I did okay, too." A'ine thinks for a second "I don't really have a favorite color but purple was the color coral my parents picked for my room." She looks back over on the other side of the room at the girl whose thoughts screamed a moment ago. She was leaning her head against the boys shoulder, Yeah she's going to be just fine. She smiles at herself and turns back to Ember, "So, there's a weapons class. What weapon do you like?" A'ine lifted her vest a little to show Ember her harness full of knives, "I like knives myself, and A'eda'n has six katanas."

Stheno turned away from Duskrade slightly glad she had helped avoid a fight that would certainly have cause chaos in the classrooms. Alexander bowed his head slightly to her, his way of saying thank you.

Kala didn't want to have to explain it to anybody especially Von why she was hiding, but it was unavoidable now. "Oh, yeah I'm fine. Remember when I said I was shy? Well, I usually don't yell.... at all." She hoped that would be enough for Von. She twiddled her thumbs feeling awkward again, still slouching next to Von. "You like music? What kind do you like?" She asked going back to the subject that made her feel comfortable.

Ilandere took Keegan's offered hand and he helped her up. "Thank you. Yes, I do hope there is some good food, I am famished." She started walking to where the food was set up, trying to think of something else they could talk about, then remembered that Keegan had never answered her question, "Keegan, I do not believe that you answered my question earlier." Ilandere decided he might not remember what the question was, "I said I preferred to play River poker and asked you which kind you like to play. What version of poker do you prefer?" She hoped ahe did not sound to blunt when she asked it.
