Coolio
Havent been on much so idk whats happening aorund very well but good to get a review of the rules :)

Same, I know that I wil sometimes just turn chat off because it is full of, usually two or three people, talking about something I am not interested in.

My only issue about the 'ignore' or 'turn chat off' suggestion, though, is that sometimes you might be trying to get something seen (such as a link to your sculptures, or hatchery etc...) or trying to talk to someone about a potential trade, and what you post tends to be pushed off quickly. (that is the nature of chats though, it can just be a bit frustrating when the current topic doesn't interest you)

Krin, I would like to request one clarification, please. What is Sylestia's policy on sad topics? I refer to such things as loss of a job, failing a course of study, and illness/injury/death. As far as I can tell, some folks who have experienced these things IRL have found comfort in supportive comments offered in Region Chat. (Including me. The *hugs* meant a lot when one of my pets died.) However, I can absolutely see how some of these things might be triggering for people.

It falls in the 'gray' area. I am sure some discussions about "sad" topics would be permissible while others would be too far. It'd just depend on what specifically is being discussed and how much of the chat the discussion is hogging.

In general, I would say that such topics are probably best left to private conversations. While it's fine for a "sad" topic to be brought up for xyz reason, it shouldn't dominate chat for extended periods of time. The proper solution would be to either just wrap up the topic quickly or have the participants take the conversation and continue it privately.

So - as an example - say someone says something like, "My dog died today. =(" That, in of itself, is totally appropriate and okay. And if the conversation goes on for a minute or two about it - okay, fine. But if it's a 10 minute conversation about sad and tragic things... that's too much - and it would be much more appropriate for the participants to have that conversation privately instead.

This is great to have! I hope this will encourage people to be respectful of region chat.
Jus a clarifying question, what is the policy on asking for help on your brews / sculptures / the fest pet making stuff?

From the original announcement: "Light use of chat for advertising, nurture requests, etc. Please limit this to once a day or at least infrequently enough that players aren't going to notice you repeatedly requesting the same thing over and over. If you're doing it enough where it's bothering multiple other players, then you are probably spamming it too much and please tone it down and use the Forums instead."
