Bete Noire Aeridini
The Bete Noire Aeridini is a haunting creature, made of shadows and nightmares. "Bete noire" means "black beast," which is a term used to describe one that is unpleasant or disliked; another word is "bugaboo," which is something frightening. I tried to design it to be like an old black-and-white movie; maybe to show that fear is very old, and is always there...even if you can't see it. Here's another depiction of it:

Poltergeist Lupora
What inspired me was the idea of a poltergeist... A chained malevolent (ex. evil, angry, spiteful) spirit or "ghost". Are they really "evil" or do they just have "anger issues"?

The original design was based on Voidbringers from Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive. Without going into too much detail, it was believed that voidbringers would bring about the end of the world.

I decided to base this off of a "nightmare" I had as a kid. It's in quotes because I was awake and I don't know what it's actually called.
One night, I was awake in bed due to a thunderstorm. As I stared at the wall across my bed, I noticed a 2D totem pole style bird sticking out from left side of a photo hanging on the wall. I thought it was fine at first because it looked like a some kind of cartoon character stuck onto the wall. Then, there was this flash of lightning and, in the blink of an eye, the totem bird was staring directly at me. I hid under the covers for what felt like forever. Eventually I worked up the courage to check the wall again and the bird was gone.
Thinking back, it was definitely the shadows from the tree outside that got warped by my imagination and fear.

Enchanted Grotto Ferrikki
Based on a dark spooky grotto where magical monsters swim waiting for a curious human to walk in to their death. It may look beautiful, but evil lurks behind those soulless eyes.
