In celebration of the Fall Festival, there will be a Double Experience Bonus starting Friday, October 25th at 12 PM and lasting through Monday, October 28th!

Bonus Begins: Friday, October 25th at 12:00 PM
Bonus Ends: Monday, October 28th at 11:59pm


During the bonus, all Battles will reward pets with a 100% bonus to Experience! This bonus will indeed stack with the [Philter of Expedient Learning] effect, totally a 200% bonus!

Additionally, we have improved the [Philter of Expedient Learning] so that it now also increases the amount of Expertise that pets earn from eligible defeated enemies:




For Players who may not be aware, Expertise is what determines the Rank of a Pet's Abilities. As a Pet earns Expertise for its Abilities, they will rank up and become more powerful. At this point in time, Expertise can only be earned from battling inside the Lost Grove.



Once the Maws of Madness is available, Expertise will also be able to be earned from there as well.

Coolio, though we don't generally use double exp periods for much unless we're raising a new board team... but, er, why are you saying only lv60+ pets can get ability ranks?
If that's how it's meant to work, something is maybe broken in the code, since uh. Pets under lv60 sure can get the stuff? (unless you just mean there has to be at least one lv60+ in the party but that would be a strange way for things to work)

(Prime Examples being Jaidi's lv30 ferrikki, Luminosity and Moon, who have rank 4 attacks)

Hm. Yea. Went and checked. The Level restriction part I was thinking of was just based on the global Level Cap - which dictates the max rank allowed per Ability. There is nothing in the code for a per-Pet Level restriction.

Thank you for letting me know! Sometimes so much time has passed since I wrote a feature I sometimes forget exactly how it works without checking back on it. =D

Nice, I don't generally care about double experience because ranking up pets takes so long I'd just rather stick to the one team who are already at max level, but if ranks are now doubled as well I'll definitely use the opportunity. (although I do with you could rank up abilities in the festival zone so I didn't have to choose between double rank exp or festival for grinding)

How do you even rank up a pet anyway? and How long does it take?

It can mean rank up (leveling) or rankup abilities. Ranking abilities can only be done in TLG but leveling can be done anywhere. Depending on how must XP is need, time spent, etc. it can go from a day to several weeks.
