AP points are basically a currency, you can buy things in the wardrobe and design slots with them.

How do I know which wardrobe stuff I can buy.with them?

You can buy like hairstyles and clothes, not items, if you click on it, it should give you an option to buy it with diamonds or AP points.

Hi! I think AP are only used for the Wardrobe, go into Account > Wardrobe, the items you can purchase with AP are in the Base, Styles, and Clothing categories, the Item categories you have to buy from the Trade Broker (Most recommended as I see it.), merchants, festivals, or find exploring. If you want to know how to get something from the Items tab, hover over the top left icon
The one circled in maroon you hover over to find out where to obtain, the icon circled in teal you can click on to see how it looks on your character.
