Mrs. Mouse chuckled despite the danger of the moment. "I would greatly appreciate another lift," she said to August before turning back to the others. "We can check to see from safety if this pack is a friendly one, so keep that in mind and stick together!" She gave the twins an extra stern look since they always seemed to listen so poorly. It would be awful if they argued so much that one ended up getting left behind.

Jay was starting to feel fretful as well, but he didn't want to lose the possibility of catching up with the others either. "I could fly up and see if I can catch the others, but I'm worried if we separate again, I'm the one who will end up lost and alone!" And wouldn't that be the worst! "Can't Hunter just...laugh really loudly? That's what hyenas do right? I don't think Gray sounded afraid or hurt. She probably wanted us to find her. Or maybe she wanted to find a new pack?" Ugh, this was starting to make his head hurt.

"Um, or maybe we should just get on with the running?" Jay suggested when another howl sounded, this time closer than before. And that one definitely did not come from Gray. He wouldn't say that sounded angry, but he didn't want to stick around and find out either.

Likewise, Mrs. Mouse's group started down the western tunnel, running or flying as fast as their little limbs could go. The second wolf howl seemed to come from just to their right and that made her worry. Besides Gray, all of them served as a nice wolf snack. "I really do hope that they're friendly..."
