Rubies and sapphires have very similar chemical makeup, as they are both made out of the mineral corundum (Al2O3). The color variations are caused by impurites that occur in the gemstones as they are being formed. Corundum exists in a rainbow of colors, with red and blue being the most well-known.

Bulls are blind to red and green. Therefore, the myth that bulls are angered by the color red simply isn't true; It's actually the movement of the muleta (The cape weilded by a bullfighter) that frusterates them.
