I quickly dash over to the hole and try to fit my arm in before anyone else can come over and look

I pull out the egg and hand it to the boy, doing my best to keep the other kids from getting it.

I hesitate but continue following, highly confused.

the minet your foot touches the water you sink, down, down, down intill you reach the bottom were you see a hatchling looking at you, as if waiting for you, you look up and see the surface only a few feet above you. then you realise that you can breath, the hatchling is still looking at you waiting, you feel a little scared.
