Yep, that's fine. Same concept would be like adding stars or whatever to the sky.

It's pretty much all shading, I have a couple simple base color layers and then individually shade/highlight everything else,, i would show you base colors but I accidentally deleted the layered version. Pretty much I just choose a light source and work from there!
