I keep going up, hoping for a cave, and even if I don't find one, it won't be too much farther by the time the sun is down...I hope.

You do find a little ledge and a small crevice like cave around half-way up.

"Well they have very...specfic needs so we have to set-up their rooms to their specifications."

I try to block the entrance and start a fire farther back in the cave.

You step into the cave and strangely enough the ground and walls are warm, as if the lava runs through the very walls, the cave is pleasantly warm and you won't be freezing any time soon.
