"sure" Sophie smiled and hopped into the car. She took out her phone and sent a quick text to Peter. "hey Peter, just had a kinda crazy experience. You'll probably hear about it on the news. So ya just wanted to let you know I won't be able to come over tomorrow. Tony and I are catching a plane after school, idk where. So see you later, not sure when. Oh I just realized what time it is. I hope I didn't wake you up, sorry"

They reached Natasha's safe house around two in the morning. Wanda got out, and stretching, yawned, "I'm so tired. I'm going to bed." Nat called after her, "There's two bedrooms on the left side of the hall." Wanda gave her a thumbs up, and vanished into the dark. Natasha sighed and looked over at Sophie. "You sleepy too? There's a TV, or I can show you some of my spy gadgets, or we can go to sleep. Depends on how tired you are."

Sophie tried to conceal her curiosity, she definitely was not tired, she wanted to see the spy stuff! "I'm not that tired, and besides, I don't think I could sleep after all that, you know? I'd like to look at your spy gear but I don't want to keep you from going to bed."

Nat arched an eyebrow. "As I've heard Cap likes to say, 'I can do this all day.' But seriously, I'm not tired. I'm used to two all-nighters in a row and still having to fight off bad guys." Nat caressed an intricate pattern on the bookshelf in the living room and pushed gently on one spot. The bookshelf folded over into the wall, revealing a glittering array of gadgets and weapons. Natasha laughed to herself. "These are my foils, the ones that don't actually work. The real weapons and stuff are hidden away, and only I know where they are because the one guy who found out is dead." She stepped aside and motioned. "Look all you want. I know what each individual piece is, what it does and what it's made of. Ask as many questions as you like, we've got all night."

"Whoa" Sophie said softly. "Wait, but why do you have a whole wall of non functional weapons though, besides the fact that it looks cool?" She pointed at a long cylindrical object. "And what's that?"

"It's there so I can fool the people who get in, figure out that I'm a spy, and try to take away my gear so they can kill me. If they take one of those, there's zero monetary value in them, aside from about 15 dollars worth of plastic and metal." Seeing the object in question, Nat picked it up. "This? It's a flame torch, non functional of course, but it enables me to cut out of a car, or through a road if I have to. Fury did that once, before he died. He did it trying to escape the Winter Soldier, but there's no escaping him. If you ever notice him- which you won't until it's too late, find me. I know how to make people disappear." Nat replaced the fake torch. "But nothing's been seen or heard of him for almost two years, so I'm hoping he fell off a jet somewhere. Don't tell Steve I said that, he'd throw me off a jet." Nat laughed and ran a hand caressingly across a small derringer.

"Oh, that's cool" said sophie. Wondering why Steve would care about a bad guy, but deciding not to ask, she would probably look stupid, "Ok I'll let you know if I ever run into him! Hey, do you have any food, I'm kinda hungry"

Nat smiled. "Yeah I have food, what's the purpose of a safe house if there's nothing in it?" She walked over to the mini fridge and pulled out some apples, a ziploc bag of meat of some sort, and a couple of water bottles. She opened a cabinet over the stove and pulled out a can of soup and a box of crackers. "Okay," she said, "I have some leftover brisket, from I don't know when but recently, some apples, or I can heat up the soup." She tossed a water bottle across the room to Sophie. "Thirsty?"

Sophie smiled back and caught the bottle, Brisket sounds good! Then I guess we better get to bed All of the sudden, a phone rang. Sophie looked questioningly at Nat.
