Contraception, homosexual sexual relations, and abortion are all sins, and divorce was never meant to happen.

Tell me who it sounds like this next quote is talking about.

"The laws are disregarded; the courts are despised; armed gangs face each other in the forum; the elections are a farce; the man with the largest purse always gets in, and nobody cares. Why should they? Life goes on most comfortably and agreeably in the great city, more so by far than ever in the world before. A violent change in government or in anything else is inconceivable. Business is good; great fortunes are made quickly in the provinces; at home it is not hard to keep the rank and file contented. Citizens of a republic where every man has a vote have easy ways open to them for getting money, ... nothing is really important but a pleasant, easy life which sensible people can have if they choose."

Ok, so who's read Museum of Thieves? Did you guys think the way they treated kids was ridiculous too? They've made their world so safe virtues are disregarded in favor of removing any threats. It's like banning knives, no matter which way you look at it you're still losing something important. If you did think it was ridiculous, your next thought was probably "I'm glad we haven't fallen that far yet." Think again.

While we may not have fallen to literally chaining our children to ensure their safety, we are still chaining them, and it's negative affects are already showing up. "The Fragile Generation" by Lenore Skenazy and Jonathan Haidt is an article that was published in the December 2017 edition of Reason Magazine, and it talks about how our "helicopter parenting", something that used to be looked down on, has affected 9 to 19-year-olds. The worst part, is that it's true.

Ok, so, part of interpreting the Bible is knowing the culture of the people at the times different parts were written. For example, everyone at the time of the gospels knew what a disciple and a rabbi were, and how a rabbi chose his disciples. The trick is, that kind of thing isn't a part of our culture today. Contracts came in, and we forgot what a covenant was. That a true marriage is a covenant.

So, which do you guys want explained first? Covenant, disciple/rabbi, the reasoning behind the Ten Plagues, or something else you've never understood? I know the three I put up, and I can look up anything else I don't know if you guys have some ideas.

And in case you were wondering, yes I am trying to get more people to comment. Thriving discussion is my goal. I will settle for stilted discussion, but would prefer thriving.

ok, still no new comments. I've got a few though.

so for information, there's also the different kinds of prophets in Jesus' time.

Oh, and you don't have to actually have people preaching at you to convert to Catholicism. Check out this story about a program in a public college.

Hhhhuhh. My posts lately have been pretty preachy. And unless you go against them directly, there's not much to discuss. And that wouldn't even be a discussion. It's really hard to try to make sure the right tone comes across my words when you can't even hear my voice, just read my words. There are a hundred different ways to interpret a sentence, depending on a person's tone of voice. So. What do you guys think of this trailer?
